Vic 3 is alot better then most paradox games (underrated opinion)
The main reason people dont like it, is because it takes 10x longer to learn as it is a very complicated game, however i have spent around 50 hours to learn the whole game and it is one of if not the most fun pdx game i have ever played.

as someone who mostly mastered this game, i disagree

main enemy in this game arnt AI, or mechanics or random negative events or troublesome IGs

its actually boredom, and thats what you will fight against after 30-40 years of ingame when you become the number 1 power in the world

That would be Imperator, at least the base game, after all the patches.

Too bad nobody reinstalled the game to see how it ended up, so it's now abandoned.

its really not a complicated game, you just watch market prices and queue buildings accordingly, it just needs any amount depth to it, i think it could be one of their better games by the end of the dlcs.

I think the diplomatic game could be more fleshed out. It's primarily an economic simulator but it feels like there are limited tools to interact. Sometimes I feel like I'm just watchign the game play itself. it has potential and I do like the environment and vibe of it. Just keep adding ways for us to interact and impact things. I like taking small countries or closed off countries like Japan or Greece and trying to do stuff with them.

I have 150 hours so far, and the worst part for me is just getting past 1870, it takes so long and it gets ridiculous how boring it becomes. However i do enjoy the beginning

The game is not very complicated to master, and as people said above is not enjoyable in long run.
I actually found it more interesting to play small countries like Sokoto or Dai Nam than France or GB. I can't handle the level of micro with so much building involved.
Also the AI is too much off, I don't really know what they are building but it's not usefull in most cases. they import everything from you.
Maybe the game shine in MP with better economics management by people other than it's an empty shell right now.

I play this game when I want to chill with a city builder, it should not be the case.

I mean it is complicated when you begin to research market fluctuations and economic trees as such, however it is very relaxing and rewarding however many of my friends that first get it are extremely overwhelmed which is less of the case with other pdx games

I don't know what you mean by market fluctuation, for it's simple as "build something" if you have overpriced goods.
Playing as the countries I said is far more difficult because you can't have every ressources and your prestige level don't allow you to import in huge amounts. You have to make choices, and your building power is low.
Wallachia is an intersting start too, but I can't accept the idea than i'm the 3rd tools producer by 1860. something is not correct with the game and it's the AI for me, everything else apart.

I find myself enjoying Victoria 3 and Hoi4 the most out of all the Paradox games I own.

After 400+ hours I need exact goals like achievements for me to play a long time, only nation I go back to play as without an achievement is Japan as the transformation from Isolationist to Imperialist is very interesting.

exactly this
AI doesnt even use steel tools haha it gives up that early in research (ai does research tech but doesnt use anything after steel tools, them included)
it cant do rubber, which means you can even laugh deeply when you think about it making electricity
bruh, AI doesnt build lead mines haha, it never uses higher PMs for glass than the basic stock one

they literally just import everything from you haha its empty shell of a world/game
only in MP this game shines

its not even that complicated to master, once you figure out the construction loop, its smooth sailing from there

imho gran columbia is one of harder starts cause of 20% construction speed malus on most its states, and again, you become top 3 worlds producer in most things before you even reach 1900s...
SoddenStar Aug 28, 2023 @ 12:19pm
This game really isn't that complex.

Agreed. People just don't know how to have fun. People usually don't have the political or economic knowledge to know what their goal should be.

I always see people going full capitalist/intelligentsia and then wondering why a country like that has great economy while it actually disgust me to make a country like that
