Victoria III freezing my computer

Occasionally whilst playing Victoria III it makes everything freeze. My screen freezes on the game but the background music keeps playing, yet I can't tab out, ctrl+alt+delete, alt+f4, nor does pressing the windows key do anything.

There's seemingly no way to keep using my computer when this happens, even pressing the power button does nothing so I have to press a handy restart button instead to restart my PC and get rid of it.

I've never experienced this with any other game and I don't think Victoria III is that demanding for me.

Has anyone experience this before? Either way, are there any suggestions on how to fix this?

just bought it and still happening. on mac os exactly the same thing I can hear the game but image is frozen. But i tab out and force close it

Edit: Fixed it by increasing free storage. The link provided above led me to similar issue where upon inspecting the logs i assume devs found out it was memory ram for pc user. in my case storage is very related to memory.
