Ideas on Texas?
Been somewhat obsessed to get this going as I havent played any other country since i purchased the game. Probably depriving myself of a much better gaming experience but regardless, im stuck on Texas.

I feel destined to always be poor. Construction centers are next to impossible to maintain, even when i flooded my economy with wood and fabric, it instantly puts me into a 1.5-3k running deficit. At that point i destroyed my barracks and did everything possible budget wise to barely break even, but as time went on it economy worsened.

My most recent play-through was joining the US customs and doing my best to build whatever was in highest demand but even that felt like a futile strategy.

Then i thought maybe the lack of literacy and education was my issue and went to private schools and a university. Once again the buildings employed and were profitable BUT the country was in a slow decline. Even built government buildings to improve taxation, still slow decline.

I saw some youtube play through and the guy simply spammed construction centers and logging camps.....such a thing isnt even possible so maybe it was on beta.

any ideas?

Build less construction centers. Or before you do, mouse over the tool tip which will give you an idea of how much extra cost it will be to staff + use goods. Also make sure the input goods for construction are not to expensive.

Second, some buildings like farms/plantations/logging camps/mines need less total construction points to build. So early game it can be a useful thing to build to quickly get pops from peasants other better paying jobs like labours. Since early game SOL = Education access, thus a labour is more likely to be literate then a peasant, and have an easier time promoting

Third, you only need admin buildings for 3 things so avoid over building them if you don’t need any of the below:
- you have a total admin shortfall of a serious amount( since it gives global tax waste)
- you need the extra admin to upgrade an institution
- you have tax waste in a specific state

Fourth, build some navel yards. For man of wars PM, you need 10 to get an interest. Then declare an oceana interest and do a conquer state on Hawaii. Yes Hawaii, they start with no army and navy which means they will usually back down. Which then gives you access to 14 logging camps and Iron mines which the iron being good since you don’t start with it. Plus Tea/Coffee/Tobacco. It also will give you a permanent interest in the location so you can use your interest somewhere else.

Fifth, try to pass colonial exploitation. Then start colonizing places in oceana. Narua is an easy one that gives you coffee. The southern Island of New Zealand is also a really good place since it will get gold fields, which later when they run out you can make gold mines.

Small nations like Texas you don't ever try that YT strategy to do construction sectors. You have to have a core economy developed first before you can do that.

First off, work on enacting better legislation such as multiculturalism, open borders, and public schools (why not go for the Reading Campaign achieve while you're at it). This will help you get a lot of cultural migration targets picking Texas.
Build a cattle ranch, logging camp. And cancel those two trade routes.
While doing this, improve relations with the US and Mexico. Try and join either of their custom unions to get access to their market goods and pop groups. Use Greener Grass decree to raise your migration attraction for Texas to steal pops from your overlord's market.

Build up your economy like crazy. Once you have about 2k income and a reasonable amount of investment pool saved up you can start building a few construction sectors. Probably better to go 2-3 and then upgrade to the third PM before building more. Keep pumping up your economy as you go.
