overpopulation
Did overpopulation exist?

well if you have more ppl then you can feed or give jobs to you have a problem with overpopulation. But no srsly do you mean a specific event? If so, no there is no overpopulation, because most of your pops will just move somewhere else.

I have a situation that you could call "overpopulation".
Playing as USA right now, have the biggest eco, open borders, multicultureism and a high standard of living, so ppl from all over the world are coming to the US. I have like 10M in California and NY each with like 500k unemployed (with similar situations in other states).

But I also have more then enough food and social benefits, so no one is dying or revolting. So they are just waiting for until I have finished my next buildings anywhere in the country and fill them up right away lol. Its a spiral right now I cant stop growing because of all these ppl that are looking for jobs in my country. But I have surplus of like 300k a week so no problem.

If you are looking for some content that goes along with your malthusian irrational worldview, then no.

One thing that can help with this is intentionally letting your buildings use less labor saving tech. Not using rail transportation or steam donkeys on mines, etc. Just don't use production methods that reduce jobs produced by buildings and your pops will have stable, comfortable incomes without becoming immigration magnets from high SoL and more of them will have non-peasant jobs. Another thing you can do is build farming buildings to take up all the arable land so nobody can be a peasant any more, this makes your territiry less appealing for migration since pops that can't find work will be fully unemployed.

There is an overpopulation condition separate from jobs. In my game as Chile I had set off massive immigration and gotten my population to 4M in 3 provinces. My southernmost, Araucania, had an "overpopulated" tag which reduced its desirability by a huge amount. It had no unemployment and neither of my other two provinces had the modifier. I looked everywhere, but I couldn't find what the population limit or whatever was.

There's a vague reference to the size of territories in a tooltip somewhere, might be a hidden value in the code?

In my current game i have the overpopulated trait (and 0 migration currently), even though i have got tons of open jobs and 0 unemployment. How to solve this?

You get a scaling overpopulation modifier in states which have more than 100k population per arable land: https://vic3.paradoxwikis.com/Pops#Population_growth

Yes i think so. Does it mean, that the population cant increase after that?

The modifier scales with the amount of population which is over the limit. Being a little over the limit can be compensated by an otherwise high birthrate or a low death rate and by modifiers for migration attraction. But eventually you will reach a point where the population doesn't increase anymore.

Thats disappointing, it means if u start with a small nation with low population, u can never even maximize your economy due to this modifier.

The overpopulation modifier has nothing to do with your starting population. It is calculated from the total amount of arable land in the state. For example the state Washington has only 22k population, but its 40 arable land would support up to 4 million. And the state Kastamonu has the same amount of arable land and already has 774K, so it can grow much less.

I don't understand then, my state has got 100 unused arable land, my population is at 866k only, and i have got already the modifier of 73% overpopulated.
