Corn Laws
Has anyone used the Corn law event? Is there any benefit with it? It just seems to make people angry.

when active, you have a realistic chance, that your Landowners IG gets a new faction leader with the trait 'market liberal'. (you have to make the right choice in an event later) After that you can switch your Trade Laws to 'Free Trade' much more easy, if your government has that IG, because with that leader they approve it strongly. Same with 'Laissez-Faire' or 'Interventionism'. The only law still difficult to get rid of is 'Servdom' law, but after that you are done.

Ooooh, I do like that. I should try that next time I play Japan or Qing.

Generally speaking, all the journal events you can trigger and then complete will trigger an additional event with a way to extend into later game. You get throughput buff as well if I am not mistaken, which that does make a significant improvement in helping to maintain your base level of grain for your nation and not have to actually constantly upgrade farms as frequently or hope that the AI in your market produces more grain.
