Victoria 3
Late game is unplayable
I started the game on max settings and had stable 60FPS no problem. But now it's 1930s, I have absolute minimum possible setings and the game still jumps between 14 and 1 (one!) FPS. Any option you want to change, law, construction, market deals, anything takes a few seconds delay to activate.

Under such settings game looks terrible, but for all the wrong reason. You'd expect lowest settings game look 2D, but no, it looks like extremely blurry 3D. Pictures look blurry all washed up and disgusting and doesn't help at all - less than 1FPS all the time. Week at 5x speed goes on as fast as 2x week at the start. At times it becomes almost physically painful to play.

Think carefully before buying it. Maybe you'd be better off just watching lets plays on youtube.

paradox is failing lately, dont know how they managed to release ck3 that well

Have you played CK3 or any Paradox games lately? The simulations are so complicated that they all slow down late game. It’s like that with a lot of strategy games.
I play Stellaris and Europa Universalis 4 continuously, Europa Universalis 4 works really great in late game (even some tiny lags appearing naturally but it's total ok for me), but Stellaris really pain at late game. This shows that old games are more stable than new ones, Paradox might be due to rushing in their last game(s) community demands are also high.

Maybe the older game are just less stressful on hardware because they’re old.

Stelleris is terrible late game on PS5. They do have options to help with it now.
PDX games I bought at launch: HOI4, I:R, CK3 and Vic 3.

HOI4 was bad at launch and became borderline unplayable towards late game. If I remember correctly they had sorted this within a few months of launch.

CK3 was fine at launch for me? I don't remember any significant issues with late game slow-down, though it does slow down a bit, it doesn't really have much of a negative impact on my play.

I:R was largely okay, just the game was mind-numbingly boring and I don't think I ever had much of a desire to play into late game (honestly come to think of it I don't think I ever played I:R to the traditional end date, even once)

Victoria 3 is by far the worst. The game is literally unplayable for me past 1890 or so. I really want to continue to the end date, but every interaction with the UI, every tick of the clock is chronically laggy. We're talking lowest recorded FPS, several seconds lag on clicking on anything, 5 to 10 seconds per tick of the clock. It's utterly broken.

They didn't bother optimizing it because it's not in its finished state, why bother compacting and optmizing the graphics, audio, and so on when you're just going change half the game in six months? I liked the little rows of map types that they had in CK2 and EU4 depending on what you wanted to see...now you have this glitchy, laggy, and quite frankly obnoxious mess of a map that changes based on how much you SCROLL.

Want to check on a province, prepare for lag as you zoom in and get hit with the graphics that were clearly the highest priority vs actual gameplay and if you want to look at a different section of the map and want to get there quick, here's the neat thing, you don't. cause you gotta lag again to zoom out and change at least 2 map types just so you don't have to slog through the nature map instead.

Cause hey, why let the player choose what type of map they see regardless of zoom like before, that only worked fine, when you can over complicate it and make it look 'pretty'
