Maybe the older game are just less stressful on hardware because they’re old.
Stelleris is terrible late game on PS5. They do have options to help with it now.
HOI4 was bad at launch and became borderline unplayable towards late game. If I remember correctly they had sorted this within a few months of launch.
CK3 was fine at launch for me? I don't remember any significant issues with late game slow-down, though it does slow down a bit, it doesn't really have much of a negative impact on my play.
I:R was largely okay, just the game was mind-numbingly boring and I don't think I ever had much of a desire to play into late game (honestly come to think of it I don't think I ever played I:R to the traditional end date, even once)
Victoria 3 is by far the worst. The game is literally unplayable for me past 1890 or so. I really want to continue to the end date, but every interaction with the UI, every tick of the clock is chronically laggy. We're talking lowest recorded FPS, several seconds lag on clicking on anything, 5 to 10 seconds per tick of the clock. It's utterly broken.
Want to check on a province, prepare for lag as you zoom in and get hit with the graphics that were clearly the highest priority vs actual gameplay and if you want to look at a different section of the map and want to get there quick, here's the neat thing, you don't. cause you gotta lag again to zoom out and change at least 2 map types just so you don't have to slog through the nature map instead.
Cause hey, why let the player choose what type of map they see regardless of zoom like before, that only worked fine, when you can over complicate it and make it look 'pretty'
