So its an economy Sim
I had high hopes for V3, as alot of V2 fans had.
Of course i dint pre purchase or bought it immediatley, The Imperator Rome fiasco teached me.
Before i buy a new game i watch Youtube Turtorials, Lets Plays and Reviews.
So i did for V3.
And...its an economy Sim.
Economy seems to be better than V2 and good to excellent with maybe the slight caveat it could be too easy. Politics seems to be decent to good.
BUT the big downfalls, which embarass me as V2 player, are Colonization (way too easy) and that thing which is called here WARFARE, i dont even dare to spell this word so bad it is.
EU 1 had better Warfare, yeh and save me the comments it isnt a wargame, i know it and i liked V2 not beeing a wargame. BUT sometimes it happens and >I< want warfare depicted somewhat more detailed, also spare the we dont want micromanaging crap, sorry thats bollox.
This is another pass for me.
And as we are at it: There are no fresh ideas at Paradox Games, they all build on the same foundation, you can clearly see that EU4 is grandchild of EU1, same with HOI and so on.
I am pretty sure Stellaris 2 will come upon us, with the same of "more of it !"
Where are the fresh ideas ? Like Battles on a separate map like Total WAR for HOI 4 ?
Building stuff directly on maps ?
Whatever, the guys at Paradox grow old, so do their games.

I was on the fence getting this but then I just watched a live playthrough where someone started on the island of Jan Mayen:

Jan Mayen is a Norwegian volcanic island in the Arctic Ocean with no permanent population. - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jan_Mayen

they made it the world's number one textile producer (or something approaching that) in just a few years. So if it is an economic simulator it's a very bad one.
Spiff is known for finding exploits in games and breaking them. That’s what he does. What he did is not typical of a normal game.

Check the other videos on his channel, he breaks every game.

He didn’t use exploits or weird mechanics to perform the feat. Everything he did was considered “valid,” in the sense that the game intentionally allowed it.

Exploits? Did you even watch the video? All the "exploits" he did was part of game mechanics.

All of the games he breaks “intentionally allow” it.

It is not consired breaking if it is part of the game mechanics.

Exploit in the manner below.

Exploit:

: to make productive use of : UTILIZE
exploiting your talents
exploit your opponent's weakness

Quote form Spiff's video description.

"The exploit used today is by becoming a protectorate of the russian market we will generate infinite money! Victoria 3 is a beautifully balanced game that's perfect for anyone looking for a thrilling strategy game. In this video, we'll show you how to play Victoria 3 gameplay and how to make the most of its brilliant gameplay."

Spiff used a guide for breaking the economy.

"help of Smith's guide to Breaking the Vic free economy you see the developers intend you to build up a normal Supply"

So in Spiff's words he used an exploit and broke the economy of the game.

> But yep, the fact that there’s no additional cost on importing and exporting goods made it possible.

This appeared to be the key. This seems like a major flaw in the game's design.
I am in relative agreement, Victoria games were still warfare games and this one is not even close to that. I feel more emphasis should be on warfare as its sandbox. Right now it is an economy sim 80% and the rest just bolted on to give it a grand strategy tag.
It l.oses for me on the spirit of Vic 2, i cant find it here, but ppl who like it, shall play it.
