So its an economy Sim
I had high hopes for V3, as alot of V2 fans had.
Of course i dint pre purchase or bought it immediatley, The Imperator Rome fiasco teached me.
Before i buy a new game i watch Youtube Turtorials, Lets Plays and Reviews.
So i did for V3.
And...its an economy Sim.
Economy seems to be better than V2 and good to excellent with maybe the slight caveat it could be too easy. Politics seems to be decent to good.
BUT the big downfalls, which embarass me as V2 player, are Colonization (way too easy) and that thing which is called here WARFARE, i dont even dare to spell this word so bad it is.
EU 1 had better Warfare, yeh and save me the comments it isnt a wargame, i know it and i liked V2 not beeing a wargame. BUT sometimes it happens and >I< want warfare depicted somewhat more detailed, also spare the we dont want micromanaging crap, sorry thats bollox.
This is another pass for me.
And as we are at it: There are no fresh ideas at Paradox Games, they all build on the same foundation, you can clearly see that EU4 is grandchild of EU1, same with HOI and so on.
I am pretty sure Stellaris 2 will come upon us, with the same of "more of it !"
Where are the fresh ideas ? Like Battles on a separate map like Total WAR for HOI 4 ?
Building stuff directly on maps ?
Whatever, the guys at Paradox grow old, so do their games.

Hmm, I'm still gonna wait for a week or two, but I almost bought the game from OP saying the economic and political simulation is good to great. Those are the number one things I want from my Vicky, after all.

I can tolerate a lot of problems if they're done right, since they're almost always trash in most strategy games.

By nature of economic sim, ware fare is an important component. Since human civilization began, countries have fought other countries for strategic resources and location.

Not sure how anyone can say ware fare is irrelevant in an economic simulation. Not asking for EU4 movement, but war in its current state, sucks.

AI makes dumb border movement decisions, you’re able to press unenforceable claims. Saw a streamer go to war to change the government of a different country, pressed the claim and nothing happened. Why? Said country was missing the required tech

AI who had border and economic advantages, willingly took peace offer where they had to pay war reps.

i barely played vic2 for a few minutes, but isn't the end-date for both after ww1? if so it def should come with good warfare

Is it true that Victoria 3 lacks of flavour ? Lack of historical events ?

I think they decided to remove warfare becouse they have no ide nor clue how to picture transition from mid xixc meeting of armiers and manouvre to wide stalled battlelines of ww1. My biggest dissapointment is however about economic simulator during victorian era without mentioning naval trade, entroports, financial hubs, coal reserves, globalization etc. But hey, they gave you character portraits and threedi events pictures

I’m not sure if they have every historical event, but I do know quite a few of them are in the game.

As for flavor, from my current experience each country pretty much plays the same, except they have different starting conditions. Like Japan can grow to U.S size, but it takes a lot longer due to its initial laws.

Maybe this feeling will change as I play more, but for an economic simulator it’s meh.

That's a good warning. And a deception. Thank you.

How many countries were you able to actually play in 4.5 hours? I’m only about 20 years into my first country after about 6 hours. How in depth was your experience with each country if you tried them all?
