Unable to launch game.
I am getting the error "Launching the game failed. Please verify the integrity of your game files. If you are using Windows, you may also need to install Visual C++ Redistributable and .NET Framework."

I have already tried verifying integrity, and nothing was installed.
I tried installing .NET Framework, and it told me that I already had it.
I tried installing VC_redist.x64 and .x86, and I assume that should have taken care of that.
I restarted my PC.
I tried launching the executable directly from binaries.

Do any of y'all have any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong?

Final Edit:
Hey all,
My problem is almost certainly because my CPU doesn't support AVX Instructions.
Paradox has confirmed that this will never be fixed.
It’s worthwhile to just refund the game, at least until they actually allow us to play.

The game works, the launcher doesn't. Run victoria3.exe from the root directory and it's great. \\\Steam\steamapps\common\Victoria 3\binaries\victoria3.exe

binary does not start...nothing happens

You double clicked on the 'victoria 3.exe' icon or file in that directory and the game didn't start at all?

Yup, been having the same issue. Doesn't launch at all.

All it does, at least for me, is begin to buffer and then do nothing. Opening up task manager shows that it’s not even running, at least ~5 seconds after attempting to run the .exe. I have tried to run it as an administrator as well, no luck.

Weird. If you run task manager, is Vicky3 already running in the background? Probably not, but double check. Normally if an executable file is run, there would be at least some kind of feedback even if the application fails.

Seems like it's the missing AVX support on my machine. I think that they should have marketed this much stronger. The typical Paradox gamer usually doesn't have a top-notch system.

So, I have got it to work by double clicking the Victoria3 executable file within the game's installation folder. Seems to be just the launcher that "has got issues"!!!

Same problem here - "General error... Setings, formatVersion should be an integer..."

Although the game DOES launch if I go to the install folder and double-click "victoria3.exe"...

This is most likely the same issue they had with the CK3 Iberia DLC and we will have to wait a week or so for a patch.

This is what I'm trying to say!

Quite possible there are issues beyond this, however. I can't help those folks.

I'll upgrade to a better system next year, so I have to wait.

For a little more information, when I try to run the executable, the game does show up in the task manager for around a single second. It just immediately stops running, and it appears that coincides with Windows Problem Reporting also jumping up to the top for a second.

I guess that your CPU is missing AVX support as well. In that case, there won't be a fix (except if they recompile the game with disabled AVX)
