What are the main goals of a campaign?

So in other PDX games I kinda get bored once I've remade great britain (for example) as I dont really know where I should expand after that. Considering all the main countries and empires are around in this what are the initial and long term goals?

Your main goals for Vic 3 should be social and economic rather than military/expansion. Developing a strong and stable economy, which lets your pops prosper and become more educated, wealthy and happy.

You can choose a Win goal before Game start or you can choose Sandbox where you set your own goals and do whatever you want. In your example you could get more colonies in Africa or get the USA back into the Empire, but like I said you can set your own goals. At first you should focus on Economy and Research and getting countries peacefully in your sphere, later you can do World Wars or other Dominance stuff.
