Is it a wise idea to buy the Grand Edition?
Crusader kings 3 The Royal Edition was sold on September 1, 2020. And the game company didn't add anything, and every time the game company staff ran out of vacation expenses, they gave them a discount.

The game company already gave a 10% discount on December 9, 2020. Are the people who pre-purchased the Royal Edition smart?

The game company gave a discount again on December 22, 2020. Was the cost of the Christmas party insufficient?

The game company offered a discount again on February 11, 2021, and they have not yet offered any additional content. What was the problem?

Why is a reservation purchase more expensive than a late purchase?

March 16th, 2021. The game company again sold the Royal Edition at a discount.

It released Northern Lords on March 17, 2021. The first additional content was released in six months and there were four discounts in the meantime.

And the Royal Court came out on February 9th, 2022 without adding anything with a lot of discounts.

I think this game company has the worst sales strategy.

And within a week, Victoria 3 will be released. I don't think they have the same development capability to run live games anymore.

They have not been making any news since March 2021, selling Bloodline 2 and then stopping development and not going through automatic refund procedures.

I think they are very unscrupulous sellers.

It's actually a worse deal than CK3's Royal Edition. That gave you an expansion and two flavor packs. With Grand Edition you're only getting an expansion, a flavor pack and some music/art that should be IN an expansion/flavor pack. You're basically preordering the expansion and getting the flavor pack free I guess...
CK3's expansion and flavor packs imo were pretty lackluster and overpriced(i mean just look at the reviews). It doesn't inspire much confidence, Victoria 3's $30 expansion and flavor pack could also be overpriced mediocre content.

Yup Grand Edition isn't worth it. Like every Paradox game, wait for the post launch patches to fix the game and the sale to pick it up cheaper.
And of course wait for the modders to add content.

Crusader kings 3 expansion is overpriced mediocre content but still better price if you buy Grand Edition. For me its worth because i don't want to wait for sale.

Despite loving Vic2, I'm holding off on this one because of the horrendous amount of DLC spam in PDX's recent titles and this is looking like more of the same. An expansion pass for one expansion and a few frills is not worth it at all.

Still remember Imperator Rome and that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥; beloved older game gets ruined by bird mana mechanic predictability.

Not when they're ripping off their fans.

Pre-ordering a season pass is essentially a show of support for the studio. Season passes going on sale has been a thing for many years on Steam so I'm surprised this isn't already common knowledge.

I first saw something like this happen when Galactic Civ 3 was available for pre-orders - it went on sale at 30% off before release and I saw it and thought 'I'll buy that for a dollar!' and picked it up. But the outrage on the boards was spectacular. Not a season pass, I know but the principle is the same.

If you don't support the studio or the game, don't pre-order the season pass. It's that simple. I see PDS ex-fans who warn folks not to support this studio and their evil practices wave the flags enthuisiasticlly for games from other studios who have exactly the same practices. They shamelessly pre-order DLC or whatever and say that they support this studio. I'm primarliy thinking about 'Stellaris - Distant Worlds 2' here but it applies to other games where a studio offers a product that disaffected fans want to see do well to harm PDS or Firaxis. ow whatever studio they hate.

Well, I support PDS, at least for now and so am happy to support the game and I hope it does well. I'm not doing it to save money. :D

I love Voyager, too. It is a great drama and TNG is good, but I felt more moved by Voyager. This became a controversial issue when 2K had previously discounted pre-orders cheaper before releasing their season pass contents, and 2K had apologized to consumers. The Viking massacre glorification in the Crusader Kings was the kind of pun that no one wanted. Royal Court was really insincere. What I am taking issue with is not the price, but the development conditions. I do not believe that they currently have normal development capabilities. The period until the content is provided is not common sense.

I pre-purchased CK2. I pre-purchased Europa Universalis 4. I made a reservation for Stellaris. I made a reservation for Imperator: Rome. I pre-purchased CK3. I like Paradox's game and thought it was supporting the development team by pre-purchasing the deluxe version every time. However, the current level of content they provide is very treatyable. I don't think I care about anything but console porting.

Let's just say that any goodwill I get from my avatar has long since rubbed off. It's nice to meet a fellow Voyager fan though. TOS will always occupy a special place for me but I can't really stomach watching it anymore as it's so dated and camp to watch. Even TNG and DS9 seem dated nowadays but there's something fresh about Voyager even watching it now.

I can't claim to be a CK fan - I didn't buy CK2 when it was released. I remember looking atd at it and thinking 'Nah.' but then I got a free copy for pre-ordering EU4 and so I picked up the Old Gods DLC as well and gave it a spin. It wasn't really my thing and was hard to get to grips with but CK3 looked much better during development and I've been reasonably happy with what I got.

I wasn't thrilled with the CK3 season pass myself but while The Royal Court was definitely not something i wanted, it wasn't a bad addition and I'm sure the developers thought it was a good idea. The Viking and Spain falvour packs were very good indeed but if Viking or Spain gameplay is not your thing, well, they'd be a complete bust for sure.

I'm more confident that I will sink far much more time into Victoria 3 though so the DLC will probably appeal to meas I'll be mopre inclined to try out some of the more exotic nations for a different kind of game.

Contrary to tin-foil hate belief, I have no idea about their current development conditions. I understand they had a very bad year last year (didn't we all?) but I don't think there's any real cause for concern for the not-too-distant future of the studio. If Vic absolutely tanks, well, that timeline might be hastened but otherwise, I'm not concerned.

I totally agree. TOS remains special to me, too, but TNG's episodes certainly haven't taken off the old-fashioned. So it may be a more positive atmosphere. However, in the case of DS9, I enjoyed watching it and saw the massacre by Odo's love affair [he actually killed all the descendants of his friends] I stopped watching the DS9 show. Voyager is a Star Trek, but it contains a sense of reality.

I would prefer always the grand edition if you really like the game.

standard: $33.99 (-32%off)
grand: $55.99 (-30% off) which includes content of $104,95

difference between both only $22,-

In the store which i bought the game i got a bonus of 5$ and wrote 20 reviews to get another 5$ so in the end i bought the grand for $45,99 which looks decent.

I wouldnt purchase any Paradox title in advance now regardless of the edition. Wait until its released. 2022 has at best been mediocre for releases and content. Hopefully they will do better in 2023 but i doubt it
