How Relations work with Diplomatic Plays
It was driving me insane not know why friendly AI would join the enemy at every option they could so I went and found out what was up. You can find most information yourself by going to sway countries in a play.

The AI determines if they will side with you or your opponent based on a thing called relative power preference.

This is Your support - their support or neutrality whatever is lower (Neutrality is just interest and issues they are having)

Support is based on relations, similar government, attitude and sympathy

sympathy is not directly shown but influenced by your power, any backers, infamy and the defence side.

So lets say you are a dominion of a powerful country, best relations with a protective attitude of you which gives you around 100 support and they hate the other guy with belligerent attitude giving them 10 support.

Your relative preference is 100-10= 90. Now for the acceptance score which is just relative preference + what you offer. If they don't want it you get a -1000 for the score but if they do want it its typically around +30 giving you a decent change to grab it.

Now here is my problem, lets say you are massively supported by the AI, you have the best attitude best relations best treaties (not a puppet and that) and pacts and you got a massive support score while your opponent is hated in every way they then just flip to who you are fighting against and it seems like something that should be impossible, you can't even flip them to simply not fight you.

You might have a support score well and truly over 100 due and this leaves very few options like puppet that would reach acceptance score to sway them to their side which you can simply offer something right back as they shouldn't be able to compete at all in that situation.

Now the real issues, sometimes the AI just wants something, you could be their BFF but they like that little treaty port you got their, your support score of over 100 should easily beat a simple offer for a +30 treaty port. Well you see if the AI wants it despite everything else it gives over a 1k acceptance score to them, something that you can't possibly ever do anything about as the support score could possibly go in the mid 100s + 30 for an acceptance score and thats the reason you are probably getting ticked off with friendly AI screwing you over.

I do wish their was a method of find support or if the AI really wants something from you that add 1000 score, maybe they could just change attitude to worse if they want something off you to indicate it.
