autosave constantly crashes the game

Anyone know how to fix that ^ ?

auto-save didn't crash for me, if you start a brand new campaing, does it crash ? maybe your current campaign is corrupt ?

No usually its starts happening after 1860. It happens very consistently across any save or campaign.

oh yeah. If you press "mobilize all" and you're mobilizing like 500 units or more. You're going to instantly crash.

it was way less than that, but it was end-game.

I'm playing in 1875 and now it crashes on every autosave (each month). I'm playing on Linux.

2 out of my 4 crashes in this game are related to this autosave. There is no point to play in "ironman", and you should get rid of it and manually save time to time.
You can do it any time in the option menu

You get get achievement without Ironman in Vic3 there is no point to play in this mode.

anyone ever find a solution to this? seems like its doing it more often since the last patch. Before it was pretty rare, now its getting annoying, and I've noticed it does it more often if I'm scrolling the camera, or on 5 speed.

Only thing i can think of is my ssd has some corrupt part and might need a defrag, i don't know. This and ck3 are the only games i've ever had any issues with it crashing specifically during autosaves.

Solution might vary for person to person.

What CPU, GPU and RAM?

The game is pretty CPU heavy, and saving takes a fair bit more of CPU power. Game crashes when your CPU ends up dropping it's core clock too low.

You can try cranking up graphic settings, run on the highest resolution your display supports, frame cap at 60 or 30 frames. And if you have an Intel CPU, disable the iGPU.
You wanna take as much workload off the CPU as you can. Disable and close any background apps and processes that you don't need running for the game either.

Well, i have a pretty old system, but never had issues with anything, until ck3 and now this, and only during autosave.

Its probably my old processor or low ram.

i7 6700 (gen 6) @3.4ghz (8cpu's), 1060ti 6gb vram, 8gb ram (iirc its ddr5), everything is on an ssd, there is plenty of free space on the ssd.

Just at a glance i probably need to add more ram, though i do have a roughly 24gb page file on the ssd functioning as virtual memory (~8gb unused). I know I know, probably not recommended lol.

Your spec's don't make a lick of sense. i7-6700 with 8GB of DDR5 RAM? That's DDR3 RAM for an i7-6700.
Also, is that an i7-6700, or i7-6700K?

Page file is used when system RAM is maxed out. Even on PCIe gen 4 SSD, it's still remarkably slower than having enough actual system RAM.
