I believe it's a known issue, I'm also having trouble doing modded multiplayer when there's like 3 or more mods; it's pretty annoying.

I've pretty much tried everything at this point. reinstalling mods, changing mod load order, clearing cache, reinstalling the game entirely, even putting the exact mod files that my friends have into mine, as well as testing if i'm actually missing any of the mods by using a save file from my friend in single player (which it loaded perfectly fine).

So I honestly think its an internal issue with the game.

jeez this reminds of imperator modded multiplayer which took them a year to fix so i guess modded mp is just off the table for awhile.

Using one mod seems to work for some reason but as soon as a second mod is enabled. The same issue occurs

yeah from what i have talked to paradox it seems to be a massive bug with the checksum so their is no fix at the moment just gotta wait for them to fix it.

My friend and I found a potential solution to the problem. We used "Irony mod manager." We combined the mods, we were interested in into one. This way we combined 20 mods into one mod. We don't have a problem with the checksum itself and we can join together and play without a problem.

It's a very dumb bug with a very dumb "fix". Vicky 3 needs to be installed on C: drive to fix this.

Actually I do think I've understood what's going on.
It's something to do with how the saving and loading process works...?
but I'm unsure what to make of it. I'll explain with numbers.

Victoria 3
v
Mods in downloaded folder
1
2
3
4.
-- you then load Victoria 3, play it a bit, no problem. Save the game.... It locks this order in.
--reload the game, after quitting it or crashes.

Victoria 3
v
Mods in downloaded folder
2
3
1
4.
-- you try and load a game which looks at mods in order, and it's not detecting them, or their pathways..

you can quit and 'reshuffle' the mod folder as much as you want. apparently.
- I don't know of any fixes, I think this is a paradox end problem :/
