Constant unplayable stuttering
Hey guys, maybe you have an idea. My pc is not the newest anymore, but it easily manages the recommended requirements. Yet the game is lagging for me to a degree where it is unplayable to me. It completely freezes every few seconds and the input lag is up to several seconds. I played up until around 1875 (Austria), I gave up now.

Specs:
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700K
32GB Ram
Windows 10
Newest Nvidia driver
M2 SSD Samsung 970 EVO Plus

Running on:
2560x1440
Medium Settings
FXAA

Planning on getting a new pc next year, but with being able to run Forza and more without any issues, this is really annoying. I tried lowering every setting and even the resolution with no visible effect. Similar games like Stellaris or Hearts of Iron run fine in comparison. (As fine as paradox games run)

Does it always lag or closer to mid-late game?

Pretty much always. It goes between bad and worse most of the time. The biggest improvement I got was from moving the game from my old SSD to my main M2-SSD. But I also have the lags early in the game, if that is what you're asking. Not that extreme as in 1870 but also pretty frequently.

I capped the game at 30 FPS and it crashes down to 1-6 constantly.

Ok, so its not the problem with lots of pops of different cultures and religions loading ur cpu. Do you use any mods? Tried checking cache?

I did the tutorial in the beginning with South Africa. Performance was also pretty bad.

No mods. Vanilla. Just validated, no errors.

I would say that this is typical paradox early access, maybe the next patches will fix that. Maybe you should check your task manager during game and see if your pc is overloaded with something, be it either steam downloading something or your browser.

Ok, I managed to get it running a bit better. I started the game without the launcher and quit the background running ds4 controller tray. Now it's somewhat playable.

@Ant1-Chr1st Thanks for the input!

as long as i play a youtube video in background i have 160fps constant with highest settings @ 3840x1600 gpu takes 240Watt(load 40%),

when i stop the video game falls down to 33-50fps with stuttering does not matter if i reduce resolution or details

9900k
4090
64gb ram

Optimization of the game is bad in early game and terrible in late game, but your CPU is also old and it has only 8MB cache which is very important for PDX games. I suggest upgrading it.

But first check your temps, clean your PC from dust and apply new high quality thermal grease. Your CPU may be overheating.

Nvidia G-Sync is not working correct, either way Disable G-Sync or having a video running in background solves the stuttering problem,

G-Sync Fullscreen/Window+Fullscreen makes no difference for problem in victoria 3
