Gog tip mate thanks! Have not meet any hardships yet so thats why if felt easier to just take stuff. But will try to take one or two and see how it works
Plus they would be in your market, so you get access to their production and consumers.
Downside, they could not be building stuff you want or using crappier production methods.
Later you could annex them if they have resources that you want to develop. For example if Chile has a lot of sulfur that you want to build mines and railroads/ports for.
Thanks mate for the answer, think I will get myself one or two puppets and see how it turns out as I realise that it would take some time to take all the land :)
Just keep in mind, their relationship will increase over time. So sometimes it pays to run damage relationship if you plan on annexing them. Also annexing may lead to war, or they could fold.
One thing I noticed sadly after playing with a puppet for some hours. They don’t do ♥♥♥♥...
I was really hoping Argentina would colonize the land south of them as they have colonizing institution at lvl 3 but sadly they have not moved at all so now the Britts are taking the land.
What’s the point of having Vassals and puppets if you can’t direct them at the slightest.
So yeah, don’t recommend getting subjects at all until its reworked
Vassals aren’t completely useless in Stellaris anymore?
Damage relations till they are neutral or lower then an annex diplo play. Which can lead to war or they could back down.
Or Austria could decide to get involved, which happened in my current game annexing one of my south american puppets. Which was absolutely hilarious since I shared a land boarder as Russia. Also that they import a lot of stuff, especially small arms, artillery, grain/other food, coal, iron, and ammo from Russia.
Starting to develop the mindset of if a great power gets involved, and I can force them to release lands I go for it.
Nope! They're actually meta now. There was a whole DLC about it, of course. (Overlord)
