I like the game, but no, since you strictly wanted to compare the two. I want shattered world and a longer timeline then I can sink hours into it. The Ethereal war feature they got going on is a hit or miss for me as well

VIC2 is far better than this one every way possible except for graphics I guess, but somehow the UI is just god awful

I like the war system much more in Vicky3 IMHO. But it is matter of taste.
But I like EU4 development system and also time period more.

How can you compare the two? EUIV has been patched and DLC'd to the maximum over many years, Vicky 3 has been out only a day

Not yet, and maybe never, EU IV is one of my favorite all-time games, and the Victoria series in general was always lesser than, for me. BUT, it has the benefit of being different in the same way that CK series has the dynastic focus that allows for incest-conquest, which really does it for some, but not others.

Victoria 3 may be better than EU IV, but it's like comparing Total War series with EU series, they are actually very different games with different foci. Whether it's better is on you and your likes/dislikes.

Also, on release day? No. But I don't think I want 10 more years of DLC for Victoria, I certainly didn't want it for EU, but 1-2 years down the line it'll be a better (probably different) game for certain.
