Getting an "Access Error to Game Data - We don't have read/write access to the directory with game data" Error? Fix Here

After fixing the initial one where it crashes trying to start the launcher, with some error about "we were unable to parse the launch settings file," I got the following after the launcher starts:

Access Error to Game Data - We don't have read/write access to the directory with game data

You just need to add the Paradox Launcher to your Windows Security "Controlled Folder Access" mechanism. Steps:

1. Go to Windows Security
   
2. Under "Virus & Threat Protection Settings" click "Manage settings"
   
3. Scroll down to "Controlled Folder Access" and click "Manage controlled folder access"
   
4. Click "Allow an app through controlled folder access"
   
5. Click "+ Add an allowed app" and then "Browse all apps"
   
6. By default, your Paradox Launcher was installed in: C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Programs\Paradox Interactive\launcher, so browse there
   
7. Now you should see at least one folder with the naming format of "launcher-v*". Choose the largest/most recent version number as that's your most recent launcher (mine upgraded so I had two version folders, and I chose the newest version, right now v2.2022.12)
   
8. Choose the "Paradox Launcher.exe" file inside to add exception for
   
9. Maybe you can finally play now

Also some ppl are saying you might or might not have AVX just go to google and search for HWINFO download the 32/64bit intaller whatever your cpu support will be lit green

You cannot add entire folders to the Controlled Access mechanism. However you can add folders to the Antivirus exclusions. But those are two different things, and that error is in regards to the Controlled Access mechanism, because I got a Windows notification in the lower right when that launcher error appeared stating that it was so.

Why the Paradox Launcher auto-updates so frequently that I have to do this again and again every time Paradox Launcher updates
