!!SOLVED!! Error Video driver Crashed and was reset! Make sure your video drivers are up to date Exiting... !!SOLVED!!
[SOLUTION AT BOTTOM]

As of yesterday 8-7-17 I am unable to play this game at all, I go to open it and it loads to main menu screen for 4 seconds and pops up this error:Error Video driver Crashed and was reset! Make sure your video drivers are up to date Exiting...

This is all it does now. I've wiped and reinstalled the game and the video drivers and no change still unplayable. I can play Ark, The Forest, and Titanfall 2 no problems at all and have been able to play this since opening day until yesterday. Any suggestions?

Here are my pc specs

System Manufacturer: ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC.
System Model: G751JT
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4720HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz (8 CPUs), ~2.6GHz
Memory: 32768MB RAM
Available OS Memory: 32718MB RAM
DirectX Version: DirectX 12
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M

SOLUTION: Okay so I contacted Snail and btw they actually got back to me within 2 hours with a custom email to my issue asking for more info to their credit. I kept trying and figured out what caused the problem and how to fix.

When going through the thread for improving graphics I found out it was editing the wrong file with the wrong info caused the game to have the issue above.

Step 1: So what I eventually did was go to hardware device manager and uninstall the video card and checked the box to remove all drivers as I had done before.

Step 2: I had to go to the add/remove software and uninstall anything from NVIDIA. and restart the computer.

Step 3: go back to device manager and scan for new hardware and let the PC reinstall the video card from there.

Step 4: Delete the edited file and in Steam verify game cache integrity.

Step 5: Run DNL and enjoy a working game :D

a couple things ive noticed.
1. make sure both desktop and game are running same resolution.
2. run the game in bordeless windowed......fullscreen causes errors
goto
SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Dark and Light\DNL\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor
go into gameusersettings
make sure resolutionsize x and y are your desktop res (x would be say 1920 and y would be 1080 for example)
as for this next i had to add it
add FullscreenMode=1
1 is for borderlesswindowed

There error is worthless, actually I think you need drivers from like a year ago on the 970M, at least I have seen it help others.

I'm having this same issue. I can follow your steps up until the 4th one, I would greatly appreciate some assistance in clarifying how to go about executing this step,

"Step 4: Delete the edited file and in Steam verify game cache integrity. "

When you refer to the "edited file" which file exactly would that be (And where is it located)? And how does one verify game cache integrity?

Apologies in advance, when it comes to computers I'm an invalid. I'm sure to people with a clue it's obvious which file you're referencing, but I'm a caveman. :(
