Source - Community Manager said it on the official discord two weeks ago.
That would be the same '3rd hand' announcement previously mentioned in other posts. The exact same thing was also said last year, and neither was backed up with an official confirmation and/or announcement from anywhere or anyone else within Snail Games.
When people have been misled as much as the players here have, actions speak for themselves. Or lack thereof. The last bugfix was Sept. 2019. Between then and now, 3 other Snail games have been abandoned w/o a word to their players, after spending less time in EA than this game; in 2 cases, around a year of EA each (DnL turns 4 this month).
So, imo, words coming thru the grapevine are not good enough anymore. Until I see something official, it means nothing. You should be a little more cautious as well.
BS, if they had been working on this game for the last 2 years they would have been keeping the community informed. Otherwise everyone would believe the game is abandoned and sales would tank. No dev would spend years working on an EA game and not make a single public statement about it. Believing that load of garbage is just wishful thinking.
I had many fun hours playing this game but these silly posts about how the game will restart being updated on the pc is just rumours with zero substance,so if anyone is thinking about buying the game, remember you are buying an abandoned game.
But the post also states the following:
So I don't think the rumours are unfounded or with zero substance :) The game obviously has very nice lore and world-building and just needs some polish to become good.
This version of the game has been abandoned. Get used to the idea.
I still say BS, if they were doing this work the platform where they sell the game would be informed as well as the official website. They wouldnt keep the handful off people on discord informed and not tell anyone on steam .....where they sell the game.
That's my biggest issue. They are completely bypassing Steam with this mobile version. They've had 2 betas so far, one already included the PC port, and a 3rd is apparently coming at the end of August.
And yet, not one ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ word on Steam. If they were actually working on something for us, other than a replacement that looks like it will be sold outside of Steam, then we'd be getting a lot more than just silence and/or information thru the 'grapevine'. Personally, I don't think the PC port is even meant for Steam.
So show me different, Snail. At this point, that's the only way I'll believe anything coming from this company and their lackey on Discord.
Rule 4 Don't overcharge Steam customers. The Early Access price of your game should be no higher than that offered on any other service or website. Please take care of your customers on Steam.
Any other service or website may include mobile but there was nothing about not being able to release it some where else.
Rule 3 Steam Early Access titles need to be available to customers through Steam. If Steam enables your Early Access game, we expect you to have the Early Access game available for sale on the Steam store. Do not offer it for sale on Steam any later than you offer it anywhere else.
Says right there that they can offer it else where at the same time as Steam.
I also do not think that they will ever do any more with this game. There has been no updates but a few small fix's in May 2019, over 2 years ago. Server shut downs and transfers because they wont update the game and a lot of people do not want to play.
The last bug fix was actually in Sept. 2019. I consider everything afterwards, the Halloween event and the permanent 2x harvest/EXP implementation, to be content tweaks, not real bug fixes.
I think a lot of people -want- to play the game but unfortunately Snail's lack of action and communication has pushed those people away. The week before the current 2021 Steam Summer Sale, this game was hitting between a high of 100 people online and a low of 34, according to the numbers on BattleMetrics, the player management app for DnL. And, as always with a sale, the numbers climbed significantly. But unfortunately as soon as they learn about Snail's lack of commitment, those new people bail and the game's population tanks. This has happened again and again over the course of the last 4 years (we're 6 days away from the 4 year anniversary of the game's EA release). Even Snail recognizes the game's potential or else they wouldn't be trying to create a 2nd iteration of the game on mobile.
