How do you use the paint wand?

I have tried to use the wand by looking at the object I want to paint and press the left mouse button and I am not able to paint anything (structures). Also, when trying to paint armor or weapons. I tried to drag and drop the dye, in my inventory, and I hear the paint sound but nothing shows that it was painted. If anyone has found out how to do these action, please let me know the process. Thanks.

I have not tried this yet, building like a maniac. :) Also will let you guys figure out how to do it before i try. :)

You have to make the wand hit the structure you want to paint. Its a pain, but its how its currently working.
Armor and weapons seems broken or only works with certain once.

@Chiobe is correct. But to be more accurate, you have to stand direct at the point you see the light blue square that shows up when you are near a structure. Then look straight up as far as you can look and press the LMB then the paint screen pops up. If you are painting in mutiple colors, I recommend using a wand for each color or do one color at a time. First option seams to take less time.

What do you mean by "Screen picture?". If you are referring to what my Manor looks like after being painted, then I'll post pics when I have completed painting everything.
