I mean dark and light
Is savaged horizon an other name for it at some point?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IVPfslIId2Y

This whole thread is really just picking humor at things, no hostility intended. :)
Humility appreciated.
Im learning a bunch of things about snail and a mess of other things.
On the plus side, graphics have improved tremendously in the past 15 years.
BUT WHAT ABOUT DRAGONS?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IVPfslIId2Y
Yes, it was its original name. It was NOT called D&L before, as far as all the news reports i've read state. They all (now) name their articles D&L (and probably a bit before the realse when it was annoucned, obviously) but most of them state that its a revamp/transformation from the 2006 "savage horizon". Also, obviously, inretrospective its easier to call it "D&L" instead of "savage horizon" because one is a name everyone knows and the others only a handfull of players know.
So maybe thats why you are confussed about this?
If you go on any site (i literally only picked the first ones i got on a google search) you'll see that all articles reference that the game was formally known as or is a new game based of "savage horizons" from 2006.
so 2006 = savage horizon
and 2017 = Dark & Light
ironically, even your videos state it if you would have clicked on their description, haha!
"(some yt-link)
DNL is coming back.
(some yt-link)
also known as 'Savage Horizon'."
thats from the description box of the video you yourself have quoted multiple times now :P
To recap:
Savage Horizon was 2006 according to the internet (i didnt know anything about it until yesterday tho) and it was live until 2008, where it went off bc of legal issues.
Snail bought the game in 2008 and begann working on it years later (maybe 2011 but nothing came around, then there were rumors 2013 again nothing, finally it got announced and a trailer in 2016),
then released Dark and Light 2017 in Early Access on Steam.
**Ironically, the first Trailers for D&L only droped in July 2016, so near the Release of Scorched Earth - hehe - wich makes my theory of them copying ARK and working on Scorched Earth and D&L way more plausible **
One good source, where most of this information can be seen for yourself is: https://mmoculture.com/2016/07/dark-and-light-new-game-trailer-for-ambitious-sandbox-mmorpg/
Wikipedia and others do state the same stuff but none of them so densely and complete than this mini-article
Although its kinda complicated if you dig more than that. Apparently they had multplie concepts for the name "savage horizon" or even similar names in general (maybe thats where the confusion comes from on your side?). Although i didnt dig deep enough to find trailers on those or what they'd become.... like western style games and such. So yeah, i'm gonna rest my case at this point!
We both learned something today (well, more like yesterday) :)
Hope thats all questions answered now :)
A bad habit of mine.
I had only heard of dark and light before I started the post.
Thanks for telling a clear full story.(I really only knew half of it before I saw the add on steam)
It would seem I did indeed mean savage horizon after all (Or what was savage horizon before I found out about it)
But..
WHAT ABOUT DRAGONS? :)
It doesnt really have a clear point beyond that. So confusion is understandable.
