Windrider Taming
I have to ask, is it normal to use over 620 iron hook arrows for a level 145 windrider? That's how many I used (ran out of arrows after this point) and still the windrider wasn't unconscious.

First off Congrats on having a windrider spawn that high lvl you are lucky. yes its normal. u need about 600-800 iron arrows depending on the creatures lvl. i once used 600 iron arrows on a lvl 4 pegasus. so if u got a lvl 145 u might need at least 800+.

Good luck and tame that beast.

Well, sadly I just let it go. I'm solo and had no means to quickly obtain more arrows. So, 145 or no, might as well have been a lvl 5 for all the good it does me now. But thanks for the info, I'm so disgusted with the situation right now, I don't think I even want to bother with elite taming anymore.

Yeah RaidGinyu, i'm familiar with the taming process. The elite cages I've built are manor and iron, 6 manor foundations long, 2 wide. If you load up on tethers at one end, you can then drag it to the other and the tethers will break about half way down the cage. I was doing this repeatedly, however apparently the 620ish iron hooks wasn't enough.

The fact that there is really no info out there readily available to know what you need to tame things for this game is a bit frustrating. I've had to let a lvl 70 WR go yesterday because the 360ish iron hooks I had weren't enough, and then today the 145. So in the past 2 days I've wasted nearly 1k iron hook arrows. I don't know if its because I'm solo that this is frustrating, but its enough to make me not want to bother taming elites any more.

Just for your future reference, here are a couple of links to some older taming spreadsheets. Neither have been updated in a while, but they'll still give you a better idea of what you can expect next time.

as guardian said you should have about 6-800+ iron hook arrows when taming a mythical. you can try using a few goblin sticks to help you out.

In desperation, I actually tried a goblin club, but wasn't getting hits on it it seemed, so not sure those work on WR's at the lesat.

I do have some of the older feed amount spreadsheets that I reference, however, they don't give you any indication as to how many hook arrows are needed.

well in any case i have knocked out 2 windriders with a goblin stick a few months ago during double taming. and the goblin stick is sort of weird or buggy from what ive seen. sometimes ill see damage and is actually doing damage to it but most of the time ill hit it but there is no damage numbers to be seen. just dont rely on the stick to do all of the work. just shoot iron arrows like usual but when it runs away just whack it with the stick until it aggro's again. thats what i do.
i always though it is not possible to get the 145 level windrider and max level after taming will go to 247 . max level i ever found was 110 , looks like im gonna craft mystical feed again huhuhuh . regarding iron hook less than the usual number , that is depend on your bow hit too , i mean for solo you need like few spare bow to equip after broken , if you have like 4 to 5 legendary bow with damage more than 20 , think it is possible . idk if there is another bow damage could go to more than 30 , but yeah , i just say what i experiance for myself .

i always bring like 6-7 crossbows to taming any mythicals. ive never cared for the rarity of the bows used to tame things or the rarity of the bows for the fire cave boss. i mostly use lower-lowest teir bows for those stuff. idk if the "bow" damage really matters when knocking them down or not. for the fire cave boss i just use wooden bows on him.

I recently tamed a 120 windrider and while I did the shooting myself I did have a healer standing by. He took almost 900 arrows before he went down and I managed an almost perfect tame on our unofficial server. You should ideally have 1000 ready to use to account for misses and I used 5 1/2 crossbows, and in the beginning this particular windrider made things very easy it took him awhile before he seemed to care that he was being tamed at all.... If you can't take the weight just have a storage box in an accessible side hallway.

After 195 bites of feed, it tamed out at 178. Wilderness went down pretty good, sadly.

I had let it out of my trap while I was frantically trying to restock my iron hook arrow supply. Made 900, drug it back in to the trap, and it actually went down after about 200ish arrows.
