Master Builder Servers
First I would like to say thank you for the master builder servers. It's nice to see a game developer focus on the PVE side of a game for once. With that being said, there's a few things that I personally in my own opinion would like to see on the server. First is a resource radius reduction so that resources spawn closer to bases. I built my small house on a river and a good distance away from it I can tell that the trees aren't respawning becuase of the structure radius. Secondly, the vendors aren't allowing us to sell items to them if someone has already done so. It took me forever before I could sell wood or twine to a vendor because someone else had already sold them some. I don't know if this is by design or not but thought I'd mention it. Third, the creature spawns seem much fewer compared to the other official PVE servers. At level 5 I was able to leave the dwarven city and ran all the way to the center of the map without being killed, but at the same time I only saw around a dozen creatures total. Fourth, many players were upset that the horses weren't usuable because they couldn't be purchased. I personally thought that this might be by design so that players can't rush out and mass claim land with pillars. Which leads me to number five. Many players have already noticed that players are land claming with a good number of pillars and such to prevent others from building. Hopefully this doesn't become a huge problem on the server but thought you should at least be aware of it. Lastly, I don't know that the experience gain needs to be high. I know you're looking to get us on our feet, but when you go from level 1 to 20 in 3 hours, seems a little too high in my opinion. I do like the gathering and taming rates. When I'm playing a game like this, I don't like having to sit with a creature I'm taming for hours on end. I simply don't have time for it. The gathering rates are nice because the items to make do cost a good amount, but that's for the good of the game. Again, these are just a few things I noticed and would like to voice my opinion on. This is a great game even in the early stages, and I look forward to much more.

I was wondering about where the build radius and the resource spawn radius would be the same. I agree, those two should be different, so that you don't have to go so far for resources.

The vendor thing has been in the game since day one. They should do something, not sure what. It is mostly only a problem when you have this many players on one server.

If those players claiming land don't build on those areas after a few days, hopefully they will do like they promised and wipe their buildings from the map. Not sure if everyone knows or thinks they will really do this.

If I can't find a spot to build when I log in tonight, I'll probably quit playing on the server. Hope that all the good spots aren't claimed like you seem to be saying.

I like the 5x experience gain. This server is supposed to be about building. You can't start building that castle until you have leveled up that skill. You don't want to have to wait a month to get there, so the 5x is necessary to make this server about building.

If you aren't on the server for building stuff and you like the grind and progression, then this is the wrong server for you (not you specifically, anybody playing there).

I would suggest having the Weight stat be at 20 per level (or higher), instead of 10. There isn't much point in having faster harvesting, if you can't carry it.

Unlike the OP, I had a panther, and then a vicious bargesh, camp my corpse. Took about 7 corpse runs before i could get my meager stuff back (game hint: while you can't outrun a panther, you can out swim them). It was adjacent to town, so at least i didn't have to run far.

Vendors out of quests? Smash those barrels for gold. And be thankful the goblin candy is gone.

First off i agree with most of the topic, but point form is much better to use on forums.

Thanks for this excellent server from me to! No horses available though.

Second, the PvP servers should be like this, since those servers are about PVP and not harvesting. Am i right?

It is very nice to be able to build pvp free that is for sure, i will miss pvp after building is done.

My structure doesnt look good at all yet and everyone around me mostly are building amazing nice looking structures, embarrassing me. :)

WIP

I was watching quite a few minecraft videos for inspiration. This isnt the best one but throwing it up anyway before getting back to building.

I'd recommend thinking about a spot now and go straight to it. Most players still seem to hang around the cities until they can move out. I already knew where i wanted to build so i ran to it straight away, strangely panthers werent the ones that killed me a couple of times but bargeshes instead xD I claimed my spot as soon as i got there. For now the pillaring might just be because people want to build there but there are always that kind of people that mass claim land so who knows. Really love the server so far, specially the harvesting :)

For anyone who would 1st like to design their buildings before they start building in DNL i highly recommend getting Fortify. Its like 2$ , its originally made for rust but it uses the same foundations, walls etc as ARK and DNL. It doesnt have all building parts but it has all the base parts :)

I thought your name was flippy and not "anyone" :)

Since there arent alot of masterbuilder posts on steam yet i just decided to suggest fortify here, not pointing out on anyone.

Truth is i am trying to go with the land and surroundings as much as possible, and trying not to create a Borg Cube. :)

Just going with the flow and looking forward to seeing how it turns out. Already had a wraith attack it and a skeleton. Retreated to town and barely escaped alive.

Alot of trial and error going to be involved with the structure though. Being a construction worker in real life makes it interesting as well i think.

Resource Spawn Radius around structures needs to be decreased. If you go to any of the beginning areas you can see firsthand just what it does because new players can hardly find resources at the edges of the cities since everyone built shacks and never deleted them.

The horses do need to be fixed, and if it was by choice that they would not spawn at the beginning, then what's the purpose of that? People will go out and suicidally land claim either way. I think it's just bugged.

And 1,000 times yes, please make it where everyone can sell their stuff to the NPCs even if someone else had just sold them, it makes it impossible to sell anything when a lot of people are online.

Creature spawns need to be increased, but not the Deathstalkers or Dark Wraiths. We have plenty of those (too many Dark Wraiths right beside the starting cities really, but it's manageable). It's the other creatures that I barely ever see.

But the experience is fine, the focus of a master builder server was not supposed to be leveling, gathering, or taming so they are pretty much exactly how I would envision them. It's supposed to be about building the best creations that you can and I can pretty much focus on that because it's not taking too long to get to the structures/materials that we need to build what we want to build. It still requires a fair amount of work after level 30, exactly as it should.

Good post though, I really hope they read this.

First come first serve sales at the vendors is awsome. Really.

Yes, horses please.

Yes need to be able to place plants and trees. Need this so badly. I am still trying to get over someone cutting trees down around a structure being built to look like its for elves.
I enjoyed this post and agree wholeheartedly. I do still see many places out there that have not been claimed and could build a beautiful home on, however the only thing keeping me from doing so is that my tribe has already started a nice riverside home near the human city and if I build one in the mountains it may be seen as spam and we would lose it all..

They need to increase the amount of resources you get from each nod and animal.

Its called a Master Builder server, not "whoever has the most time to build server".

When you can empty a spot for metals and barly get enough to make 1-2 manor pieces, then building epic manor buildings, will be limited to those that can spend there entire day playing.

Level up the vendors so they can buy more stuff is the only workaround for this and it is still limited even after they are leveled :)
