Races.... do they matter??
So I am considering getting this game with some friends. I am curious if the races have any effect on anything right now or if they are just a cosmetic thing. I have read that to play with friends everyone has to be the same race which is ok but I cant find much info on if there are any perks to certains races that would give bonuses to being one over the other.

Thanks.

You all have to be in the same race if you want to play together, if you are from a diferent race you will be hostile to eachother, you cant join the same house/clan and you cant enter the same faction city.

As to perks for the races is more land based locations.

Humans are closer to the Ice cave dungeon, Frost dragons, Albino deer and got easier acces to centaurs and bears.

The elven are really close to the Wheet fields wich will be your main source of getting Magic shards, aswell as they have some really good location with minerals.

The dwarfs are close to the Fire Dragons and close to the center of the map where you will go for the Darkness event that gives you some really good loot.

You can however make an elf look like a dwarf or vice versa

Are there any racial perk to speak of, or is there some plan to implement those things?? Seems like this game is super close to being a survival MMO which is a cool concept to think of. But it seems like the races were added with no thought of reasoning.

no racial perks, almost all MMO-RPG's are moving away from racial perks aswell due to ballancing, the devs did mention they want to provide certain benefits to certain races in the future

No perks just have their own starting city. If they'll add any in the future, no one knows only time will tell. And it is a survival game where alot of the game codings were taken from Ark. Also seeing as you've played Conan, that game's creators were inspired from Ark.

I have no issue with the Ark or Conan idea. Conan has and continues to have som incrdible flaws that are ignored, not to mention the game is almost vacant of any purpose. Dark and Light seems to have some actual depth to it in so far as what you can do. Personally I wouldnt mind seeing some sort of small quest system implemented but that is just a personal thing.

There are quests... well more like tasks when you start the game to help newbies understand the basics but many are also broken.

yea, quests would be something in the future if ever. I just think a game like this could very easily handle a quest system and it would flow with the game quite nicely.

There are outstanding massive balancing differences for each Race, like Humans don´t get mass amounts of Night Cap Mushrooms for 4g each......

Im not sure if your are stating this as a problem or as a benefit to the game?

Its a massive Problem, Elfes and Dwarvs can mass tame Mysticals, Humans can not.

Is there any benefit from massing up stuff like that?? Like I am not seeing where the problem is from someone having a lot of something someone else does not. Unless it is really that big of a game changer with regards to the PvP side of things.

What he is talking about is a known problem and the devs are working on it, the human city is missing one of the vendors, mythical tames are pretty much useless, they are just decoration.
They hardly do siege dmg.

Only thing they have going for them is have extreemly high hp so they can soak alot of dmg, nidhogs fly faster and are more agile so you can easily pick the riders out of their seats and kill them.

Eitherway eventually they will fix the vendor for the humans, till then you can always grow the mushrooms or use goblin hammers to knock out mythicals aswell

In the right hands mythicals are Legendary. Worthy of their name.

Race does not really matter In the current state of the game. The only difference between races other than looks and location is available vendors, All 3 have the most important one, which is the feed vendor. The other items are not really worth choosing one race over another just for that one vendor. If you are casual, i would reconmend elf, their area is the most efficent by far. If you are an experianced player, you can build anywhere so it does not matter which you choose. Gl and hf!
