Advanced Magic Extraction Staff Head
I was so excited to get this skill trained so I can make a better Magic Shard extractor, however, when I tried to use it all I got was a message saying 'not enough mana'. My current mana is at 270. I checked the forums and saw that I was not the only one who could not use the new Extractor. Saw where someone said that I would need to make a new staff and then it should work. I made two new staffs, one from inventory and one from the magic work bench, still only get the message about not having enough mana. How much mana does it take to work this item? Is there a bug with it? If anyone has been able to get this new Extraction Staff Head to work please share how you did it so the rest of us can too. Thanks

Need to craft the Celestial Staff.

But be warned, the new Spell is rather downside.
Corn Field still beats it.

First my current mana is 290 not 270, sorry about the typo. Second I have crafted the Celestial Staff and still just get the message saying not enough mana. I have tried 3 different staffs: Sorcerer's, Druidic and Celestial, I am working on opening the 4th and final (currently) staff, Battlemage.

Make a new magic altar and make the staff from that.

BTW the new spell sucks. It also as you probably guessed uses mana and the spell also has limited uses. And you get the same or less shards unless maybe you can group enough crap around you to make it worth it.

I don't even use those spells because I just punch the wheat in the fields near the elvin city and get like 250 shards in a minute.

Another disappointing spell in a screwed up patch.

I made 3 more Celestial Staffs and finally got this to work, while it looks cool and does get shards along with other things, ie stones, wood, twine etc., it does not seem to be hauling in more then the original drain staff head. It does make it so you don't have to go and point at every rock, tree, or ore. It drains your mana pretty quick, but that fills back up pretty quick too. Yes the wheat fields are still the best way to get your shards, I don't like to go there alone as I always seem to get jumped by the dark baddies. Hate that they took the flowers away in the city as that was a safe place to go when you are alone.

I already had a celestial staff.... and a battlemage staff. Do I really need to craft a few more and "try to see if it works"?

I've never tried the wheat fields near the elf city, maybe I'll have to. But in my experience the spell is great! Using it in the right groupings of trees is definitely key, but I am getting 10-15x the amount of shards then the original spell, in roughly the same amount of time. That being said, I do have 450 mana and 250 focus. So I don't need much resting.

You can switch to drain spell, equip your staff, then switch back to the new spell and cast it while moving.

Had the same problem. The solution is to craft a new battlemage staff.

Yeah it drains your mana like crazy. The wheat fields are still bestest in my opinion. Doesn't use up your mana or focus (just stamina) and you can get like.. 7 stacks or so (700+ ) magic shards in 5 minutes time (the length of time of a rune of radiance to be dark creature safe xD). You also get lots of stone, wood, berries, and grass resources too which works great for me since I stuff my sheeps with the grass for furs, berries to feed my army of herbivores, wood and stone for various things for crafting needs as well as things to sell to the vendors.

The fix isn't just a new staff it's a whole new magic altar, u have to make a new staff every single server restart as well...thats the workaround for now.
