Charcoal
off the top of my head charcoal is used for all this stuff.... Haste Spells, Fertilizer, Lighting, to make Stone Hook Arrows

1000's of charcoal daily for fertilizer and arrows. We need to cut down on this grind. Sulfur powder could be substituted easily for many things. Its not used as much. Ground bone, has like one purpose...

Kts not like charcoal is hard to get, grab an elephant get 1k of wood in less then 30 min and burn it on a few campfires/forges/fireplace, you should passivly be making charcoal pretty much the whole time, wether it is by making food, or smelting metals, we always have an overflow of charcoal

I mean this is true, but like for 1 day of spells I use close to 1k just for spells, without pvp. For farming im using almost 4k a day and glass bottles at least 2k. I have 16 fireplaces going everyday for hours to keep up, this is assuming I don't need it for w.e else we need it for.

Magic shards aswell, more annoying then charcoal.
Wish they add a upgrade spell lvl 2/3 like the other spells to harvest a bit more

shards are easier if you have access to wheat fields but if you don't you are totally ♥♥♥♥♥♥

i have several thousand charcoal in storage atm. it is so easy to get. i have 4 forage running on wood to smelt metals and when i cook i use wood. no clue why people say they can't get it. maybe i am not at a point where i need a ton of it yet but to me it is very simple and quick to get. just burning it in campfires to light up your base on several levels of your base keeps it cooking up non stop. just build more fires.

Someone had a great idea about there being a better forge, like the 'Dwarven Great Forge', that could help here too I think. Not only would it mean faster metal smelting but also faster wood burning.

For me personally the grind isn't in getting the wood for the charcoal, it is in micro managing multiple campfires and forges all the time. I've always found having to go back and forth, in and out, over and over, from inventories to be very unimmersive in a game.

the problem is that once you get into higher level playing scenarios, you end up need 10k charcoal at best. that means you would have to run 10 campfires or w.e to make 1000 every 30 mins. so you spend 2.75 ours on charcoal alone before you even start going out and exploring. If you are an Arrow user, 2x that amount of charcoal. I think either reduce the amount needed total, or increase the amount you get.

I have 3 forges, 4 fires. I bet you do not have a garden :)

One word: Torches. 3 slots for 300 wood total. Craft a dozen or a few hundred and let them burn along side your other charcoal sources.

Torches.

i do have a garden. just started out with 2 plots. growing mushrooms which the spoil timer sucks on them even if you put them in the larder. i make tons of arrows for taming and still have tons of charcoal left over. i am on a server with 10x everything so if you are on official and having a hard time it is because the base rates are so slow it makes me cringe. i love to build so gathering and leveling up on a vanilla settings server drives me insane. ark official servers boosting to 1.5 on weekends made me laugh. i was on servers with 50-100x everything. the 2 official servers i tried for this game were lame. the chinese killed all the npc players so you couldn't do anything in cities at all. i got on pvp official and players were talking about robbing the new players of their stuff which is lame. they didn't care if new players could even get started. another reason i do not play on official.

the wall ones? or the on the ground ones?

I have no issue getting charcoal as I can get 1000's of wood in a few mins with an Elephant and we have 16 forges running all the time to smelt the ore are are farming, as well as tons of braziers, so we are dumping charcoal. Plus we have a standing touch next to each compost bin and that makes charcoal faster then the compost bin can use it

Only resource that is a pain to get is magic shards. Please change it so there is an pet out there that can be used to harvest magic shards

try both it is easy enough to build them and add them to your base

I guess I will be super specific. I do not have "an issue" getting charcoal. I physically know how to make it, what time it takes to make it, and how to bulk craft it.

My point is... its over used. its a silly grind.

We grind charcoal for too many compoments of crafting compared to some very under utilized things. Its stupid to use charcoal for everything when you have other resources that go for only one thing or two things.

I dont want to farm and burn wood for the sake of gaining charcoal, and 1000's of charcoal stored goes in seconds around my camp with our uses. 100 stone hook arrows for a 120 panther on my server.

Now as for How to store your mushrooms. You leave them in the plots you do not take them out and put in a preserving bin. The best rot timer is in the crop plot. We only remove the nigthcaps when we are going to make iron hook arrows

I also agree, we need a creature to harvest shards with.
