What's the single player experience like?
I see it says it's single player, but does that mean we can invite friends too? And how does the single player experience live up to the MMO type one? Is it even worth it to play single?

To invite others you need to host a server, so when it says single player, it's just you. You can modify the server and make changes to those modifications even after you start playing on it. When you leave the game it's saved and you start right back up where you left off.

Pros - you play by yourself, no one else around to take the good hunting grounds or prime real estate.

Cons - you play by yourself, so no one to team up with for hunting parties and no one to talk to while you're playing.

It's really a matter of personal taste. Personally, I love it. I tried official servers and the unoffical servers, hosted by others. I prefer to explore alone.

I think its very worth it to play single player. You don't have to worry about players raiding your base or stealing your ♥♥♥♥ or anything. You can set everything. You can get everything, and you don't have to worry about bugs or anything messing your stuff up.

It's not an mmo, I don't think it ever will be, but you can still have fun. I sure do. As for friends joining I don't think they can.

Is this game better with the social aspect though? Does it get boring in single player? You can't make a guild in single player, right? Or trade?
Sulevia Aug 8, 2017 @ 5:03pm
You can create a house (guild), but it will have a member of one. Many of the players on other servers are houses of 1. Most of the trade is with the vendors, so no loss there. I don't get bored, but I do get so lost in the game that a family member saying, "goodbye" to me this morning as they left for work, startled me out of my skin.

Honestly, I doubt there will be much of a social aspect anywhere until this game gets more popular. I don't doubt that that'll happen though. Enjoy SP and its lack of bugs and the ability to do whatever you want for now though :D

The single player has manually broken things in its soooo

whole game crashes anytime i try multiplayer so I have tons of hours in single player. Not a bad experience, probably easier to explore the map and level skills this way.

Played official, played singleplayer, played unofficial, played local hosted dedicated server. Which is the best out of the three? Local hosted dedicated. Official right now is all over the place with inbalance and people have to be aware, you will be starting over...a lot and with the current rates the game has, it isn't an issue, but it will change.

Singleplayer is basically all of official with none of the hassle. As for if the social aspect of the game is enough? Not really. Players do help you, but they will grief you more than help you. If you want a good social experience, just join a friendly PvE server that has the horse power to actually make the creatures move normally. The official servers do not have this yet and that is one of their main issues.

Hi, in Local hosted dedicated you can play with friends in your world too?.

You have to setup a dedicated server, password it, so only friends can join.
If your PC is powerfull enough, you hardly notice it when both are running on your system with a few friends on it, and have a decent internet upload speed.

Tried official, single player and dedicated with a few friends, and the latter gives me the most enjoyable expierence.
ATM running a dedicated server myself, for games with my own friends, running the server and the game on my own PC. with 6 players total (4 joined, and 2 locally joined over Lan), perfectly smooth gameplay even though i ran the gameclient on the same PC..

So again with a decent gaming Riga nd good connection, it should be perfectly doable for private games.
Enough guides online on how to set it up.

Do you know if you can use your single player world and character in your local dedicated server by importing it or transfer the files?. THANKS FOR YOUR HELP.

Haven't tried that myself with DnL, but i did do savegame swaps with other games, and it worked most of the times but not all of the times, so there's no guarantee it will work in this game ofc.

Hi guys. This may help if you are looking for a guide to setting up your dedicated server.

Ultimate Dedicated Server Setup Guide

It is the lastest server file that I have found out there and I am using the DNL server manager which was easy to set up.

That being said. I am also wanting to put my single player game on to the dedicated server by copying file to the server. I have noticed that some file say LocalPlayer.dnlprofile for one, which makes me think that this will not work. If any one knows of a guide or has done this them self, please let me know what you did.

Thanks
