Feels like the crossbow reloads faster, might just be me though.

Does it do more "torpor"? Because it's slower than the bow..

The normal harpoon does with a bow 1 dmg with a crossbow 3 dmg on hit. Dont know if this says something bout it.

I had loading issues one the private server i am playing with normal harpoon and a crossbow.

Oh ok, thanks!
I don't think there is any difference in amount of torper delivered but the crossbow will last much longer in lengthy tames before breaking.

Longer range, less time to shoot at full power. Doesn't do more constitution damage as far as i can tell that's up to ammo not weapon.

Crossbow= Firing Delay Backloaded= Instant you hit the Trigger
However, crossbows cannot be repaired in the field so you need to carry a few of them and a bow as a back up.

Bow= Firing Delay Frontloaded= You gotta charge it for a second before firing
However, Bows can be repaired in the field.

I carry two or three crossbows and a bow back-up.

Yeah Xbow is limited as you cannot repair it in a hurry..

In Ark the more damage you did with tranq arrows the more torpor you inflicted...
So I suppose this might mean that a xbow should inflict 3x torpor more than bow... But hadn't tested it yet

Somebody else on the form did a test with the torpor and found that the crossbow did do more damage on a tether break then the regular bow is like a 23 Point difference I think the post is still on front page I may be wrong it may have been a difference between Stone and iron hook

Unfortunately is this :(
I read that thread on the forum, very interesting, stone arrows give 25% less torpor than iron arrows. That's a good test done in the thread you said, but i'm quite sure there are differences also between the use of a xbow instead of a bow.
I can do the test myself, but in like 5 hours.
If anyone is able to test it before please tell us, it will ease our tamings a lot :)

Crossbow is needed for the iron hooks but OMG those are ridiculously expensive to make.... so as of right now my entire group uses regular bow.. they load faster, they deal same damage as crossbow (tested by one of our group leaders), easy to repair on the go and well shoot faster, cause you load faster... crossbow neeed refining.. if it is going ot take longer to load it needs to be worth using like addding extra damage or torpor...

Arrows of all types need to be a little cheaper..

Damage wise i havent noticed a difference. Agoblin takes 50 damage with a crossbow and 50 damage with a wooden bow. In my case atleast. Wooden bow starts shaking when you have it fully loaded. Kind of annoying when you want to target something moving fast being small (Waterfly). For the time bein i will stick to the wooden bow. It looks sexier on a female elf, is cheaper and can get repaired in the field. If im not mistaken the crossbow is mouse click shoot. The wooden bow is mouse release shoot. (Not 100% sure though, can't test right now). So depending what gaming enviroment you come from the one version or the other might be easier to handle.
