The wood structure grind...(NOT harvesting wood but unlocking structures)
I will be ready to craft the beginning stone structures before I can build wood gates, and I've been spending my time farming wood, building wood and killing the occasional animal for meat. That's it.

Devs might want to look at the grind required to advance this skill. It doesn't need a massive adjustment but when your play time is mostly farming and building wood and you're still leveling faster than that skill it needs an adjustment.

You should be able to max out the wood skill before you reach stone, assuming all you're doing is farming and building wood and not hunting for XP because it's easy to greatly outlevel all your skills if you want to (my farming and thaumaturgy are lagging way behind).

Well my experience is pretty different starting to build a base with rank 1 wood stuff unlocked others ranks pretty quick except maybe for the last two ones but even without thoses you have everything you need to build your "home" and i didn't feel like it was a pain to unlock first rank as well.

if you play the game the way it was intended and you build as you unlock things (straw base first, then wood, then stone, etc) then you wouldn't' need to grind as much. the problem is people start the game and want to hurry and start building out of stone and wood without even progressing up the list first..

wood is everywhere and it's easy to get without much effort. it's really not that difficult..not trying to be rude..these games are suppose to be like this or do you expect everything to be handed out in 3 hours? almost all survival games have some grind, and this game isn't bad at all.

Thats what they wanted to change with ark. There u were able to rush to endgame in no time. Theres no reason to be in endgame... Enjoy the game do what youre supposed to do and see more unlocked ranks as a surprise.

what i love about this game is there are other ways to harvest things faster and more efficiently.. multiple ways to do something if people don't mind spending some time learning. for example, tame a boar and use in the jungle to collect tons or resources very easily..

So I've been building my wood base for about 8 hours total and I do believe the grind is a bit hard. I would even say that 15% faster would be a allot better.

scout an area before building.. and one rule is don't build a base where there can be meteorites falling. there will be predators around those areas.

I think there's also a bit of a disconnect between singleplayer folks and multiplayer folks. Singleplayer's always going to be an obscene grind compared to multiplayer, because there's no specialization and no one to help you collect resources. On the flip side, you can run that xp all the way up if you want.

I do think the last two ranks of wood take a little too long to level. It's weird that basic protective walls for your base aren't really available 'til midgame.

Play unofficial servers then with x10. So many crybabies will kill most things, taked off night, now panthers, wraths bad, grind too long :/

You guys shouldn't forget something, there is solo/small communities playing versus large guilds playing, if it was fast /easy for a single player to build a Fortress, large groups of people would do it in no time, balance is kinda difficult to find, but you shouldn't expect building something big like just snapping your fingers, also is there really any hurry? i don't think so , you could switch between building/gathering and exploration hunting, not getting bored of anything, to me that kind of nerf wouldn't be a good thing.

I disagree with the grinding being to much, I think it's fine, here's why u might b having issues

1. You can't unlock stuff till your high enough level to do so, if ur a high level and started crafting u would do it in no time

2. What are you using to gather? When you get an iron axe your laughing each tree you chop is huge wood supply

3. Gathering weight, you will need to put a lot of your points into carrying, also tame a boar they can carry a lot, hell if you have a pack of them and use an iron axe for an hour, you won't need anymore wood for you're wooden house, or even a moderate sized stone house.

4. time gathering meat, what you chop with each weapon gets different stuff, for meat you will need a sword, however if you already have a boar in 30 SECONDS you can easily get 1000 berries and a few hundred mushrooms at that point, cook nothing but mushrooms that's all you need at that point.

Hope that helps, enjoy

I'm not talking about grinding the wood itself, I'm talking about unlocking the structures, specifically the last two. I'm still only about 30% into the first gate and I'm halfway through level 32 and have been farming wood and building wood structures mostly.

That's what I'm saying needs a change. I know the gates aren't necessary or anything but I'll be 35 and starting on stone before the last wood gate is unlocked, and then there's that awful stone and iron grind...

But this is what EA is for, to uncover bugs and areas that need adjusting.
