This 'general chat' popping up in the middle of my singleplayer game is dumb as hell.

I get that the devs think it's great and complaints and negative reviews mentioning this one feature exclusively have been ignored, and so my comment won't change anything.

Mostly I'm posting this for lurkers and people thinking about buying during this sale like I did.

I've been on Steam for 13 years. I've never once thought, or seen a player go, "Bro, you know what would be awesome? If random comments from randos would pop up on my screen while I'm in the middle of a shootout in a singleplayer game. Not even just in the main screen, but while I'm playing. That would be great!"

And there's no way to permanently turn it off or even something in 'settings' that handles that? It's just obnoxious.

Aww. Really? Not even once? I think it's fantastic. The complexity and nuance of the gameplay and physics rival anything out there. I have close to 500 hours and regularly ask for advice on midgame decisions. The community is great 90% of the time and it's like were all streaming together. The chat is one of the biggest things keeping this game active. You may be forgetting there is a multiplayer function. Finding a teammate who is actively playing beats the hell out of lurking and playing message tag in yet another discord channel.

There is a whole feature on Steam dedicated to game chat and no one uses it for anything but spam unfortunately, even in multiplayer games.

it happens way more than you think

just give us the option to turn it off permanently in the settings instead of having to click the x every time

plus, even after clicking the x, there is still a floating "press enter for global chat"

YOU CAN GET BANNED FROM GLOBAL CHAT, JUST MAKE FUN OF SHRIKE AND HOW HIS GAME WILL NEVER GET UPDATED AND POST SCREENSHOTS TO THE DISCORD.
