Overwhelmed is a good word to describe me in SYNTHETIK :( There is so many variables. For now I have only 4h in game, but still don't know how to use items and terminals. Looks like your advice to have fun is the key. Sometimes I try too hard to master the game for 100% achievements.
It also depends on what you find fun. For example, I loved playing 220% from the start, and learning through my deaths what I did wrong, and what I could do to improve next run.
But most people do not enjoy this brick wall approach to games. I suggest just playing the difficulty where you are comfortable, learning the core mechanics, and bump up the difficulty once you find it too easy. Work your way up until you can play 200% for the achievements.
