i have 1920 x 1080 video on Track 1 , with the Project set to 1920 x 1080
and pixel aspect ratio set to 1.0000
next ,
i have a second video Track with a 4:3 video piece that i want to be Full screen
to match that of Track 1's 16:9 aspect ratio .
i need to "Pan and Scan" track 2 .
In Vegas , on the Track Controller of video Track 2 , click "Track Motion" icon .
At the top of Track Motion , is an icon to Lock the aspect ratio
Be sure to Lock the aspect ratio .
Now drag the box at a corner to increase the size until it just Fills
the screen width Left and Right edges .
Click on the digit boxes at the left to increment
1 pixel at a time , for precise adjustments .
You might need to move the image Up or Down to get the Center Cut portion
of the crop that you want . Thus "Pan and Scan" .
Next
Lock the X axis to prevent left right movement of the image .
Now
Left mouse click the middle of the Track Motion box to move the
image up\down . Or adjust the Y digit box to move the image up\down .
Typically , the image will be moved down just far enough to show
the actor's heads .
i see the Menu item you mentioned , however ,
when i click on it , the image remains the same
and the 4:3 footage does NOT fill the screen
to conform to Project settings of 1920 x 1080 aspect ratio 1.0000
Can you give an example of when Track Motion
"Match Output Aspect Ratio" actually changes
the visible aspect of the clip ?
for now ,
i must manually adjust as described above in the previous post .
or
Right click the media that is on the time line and
and in the Video Tab Media Tab
manually type in a new import aspect ratio value .
This is more laborious and requires a math calculation
which could be difficult to determine .
thus
the easiest way is described in the previous post above .
