Suddenly Won't Start Up
This is not Steam Edition, but I can't get a response from MAGIX support so I thought maybe someone here can help.

I had been using this software almost daily for a month or so, and it worked beautifully. Then one day it just stopped working. If I try to open it, I see the splash screen, and when it says "creating windows" I get an error message popup.

I searched around and tried a workaround that I found online... found that if I disable my graphics card then I can start the program, but when I enable my graphics card again the program closes and I get the error message again.

If anyone were to tell me how to fix this, I would be very appreciative... I have gone back to version 12 for now, but version 14 saved me a lot of time in some parts of my process.

Odd, reading your description of workaround GPU acceleration comes to mind.

But not sure of reason or what to advise you.

Hmmm... I wonder if some drivers or something else related to my graphics card were updated.

I'm afraid not. I've been in touch with their tech support, but they take weeks between each reply and don't seem to know what they're doing. They keep ignoring the information I gave them and giving me solutions for other versions and other problems.

in your original post , you "Disable the graphics card" . how do you that ?

if i disable GPU for Vegas , i do it in the menu Options-->Preferences-->Video Tab
but , since Vegas won't load ,...how are you "Disabling the graphics card ?"

P.S.
i am guessing that you already tried Ctrl-Shift , so that Vegas can Rebuild itself .
note that Ctrl-Shift only takes effect if\when Vegas loading Prompts you ,and
asks if you really want to Reset . If you don't get that message box , then Vegas
did NOT detect\find your Ctrl-Shift key press . must try again with the key press .

I disabled the graphics card via the Device Manager. I just tried your Ctrl+Shift solution, and unfortunately it did not work. Thanks for trying, though!

there is only a Small Interval of time , to press Ctrl-Shift ,...
just after clicking the Vegas Short cut icon , when launching Vegas .

if Ctrl-Shift is pressed , and No message box appears , then Vegas
did NOT find the key press . Vegas must be closed and re-launched again ,
and do the Ctrl-Shift key press again ,...and hope Vegas will display the
message box "do you really want to Reset ?"

i have "have missed it" missed the time interval when Vegas was launching ,
when pressing Ctrl-Shift .
( there is only a small "window of opportunity" to press Ctrl-Shift , when Vegas is loading )
somewhat wondering if anything happened . yeah , nothing happened .
So i did it again , and finally got the message box asking if i wanted to Reset .
i clicked YES , to do the reset . ( just wanted to be clear about all of that )

i just want to toss this out there but i have tried and tried again to start up sony vegas unistalled then reinstalled many times. Still it keeps on coming up with new errors. the latset one says that i do not have a liscense to start the software. any help would be much appreciated.

Ah, I see... I have now tried several times and have yet to get a message box. Can you give me an idea of when it's too late? When the logo splash appears? When the splash is done?

To start off, did the program work properly before, and did you enter a license key and activate it?

Hmmm, I'm afraid I don't know. Did you enter a key to activate it at some point, before the run where it worked? And can you provide a screenshot of the message that appears when you try to start the program?

You can't and don't need to.

Topplenaut said it in begining that he purchased from website not from steam.

YOU on other hand own on STEAM and it should be activated by default without need to enter any key since steam owners don't get keys.

You maybe can solve that problem with license if you delete something in registry related to license and see if that solves it but atm don't remember exactly what.

It might be commented on these threads though but atm I am too preocupied with something else to search for that info.
