I'm pretty much sure that you can solve this problem just by reinstalling your software.
More then often you might experience some malfunction depending on the interaction with the steam client.
Just to be sure I suggest you to clean the steam download cache and then restart the software.
Open the steam browser and:
1. Click on "Steam"
2. Click on "Settings"
3 .Click on "Downloads"
4. Click on "Clear Download cache"
If the problem persists reinstall the sofftware and then clean the download cache again.
Kind regards
The MAGIX team
Thank you for your quick reply.
I followed all the steps meticulously.
I also restarted my PC.
Current Situation :
Now I can import image, video into the project media and then drag onto the timeline.
BUT still, I can't DIRECTLY drag and drop any media from my HDD onto the timeline ( like I used to do earlier in all my previous projects )
Additional Information:
My OS is Win 10 64 Bit ( updated)
What should I do now?
Kindly help.
as far as i know , i have never been able to drag a file from a Window's Folder , onto the Vegas Time Line . i always do it from Vega's Explorer .
Trust me , "dragging from windows explorer and dropping onto the vegas timeline" always worked for me since Vegas 7.0.
( I have been using vegas since version 4.0 when it was developed by Sonic Foundry, I guess. )
And It was one of the brilliant effortless features that made me fall in love with vegas.
I don't know why suddenly it has stopped working. :(
i do see why you like to do that .
Vegas 14 Steam Edition was running Full screen , with a
Microsoft folder open , on top of Vegas .
i dragged 2 .mp4 videos directly onto the Time Line .
it worked . i never do that . i always use Vegas Explorer .
the only thing left is : Vegas install is somehow corrupt .
if Vegas 14 is the only magix software you have , it will be
easier to rip it and do a clean install .
have Steam un-install Vegas .
then manually , go into folders :
Program Files
Program Files (x86)
ProgramData
Users\YourPCname\AppData\Local and Roaming
and look for ALL folders named :
magix
Vegas
Vegas Pro
Sony
and delete them .
double check on the Steam Common folder and delete Vegas
it it is still there . the drive\folders should now be clean of Vegas .
re-install and see what happens .
i have never touched the Registry for any Vegas software .
But now I am getting error code -59 ( I have "no license " for this software) .
And vegas doesn't start anymore .
Please help :(
It seems I am now in deep trouble.
All my other magix programs are working.
But vegas pro 14 stopped.
It's a pity that this is a "pro" version and one of my source of earning. And I can't use it now. :(
KIndly help. Very urgent.
i have never understood those error codes ,...59 ,...2 ,.. and now 45
the worse scenaio for me was when i had MS13P from Steam . then i tried
MS14P trial from Magix web site . all was ok , then i un-installed MS14P trial .
that act of un-installing MS14P trial broke Steam's MS13P .
so , what did i do ?
i did what i said above . why ? because Steam Verify said everthing was ok .
there just wasn't anything else to try .
i have never touched the registry for Steam apps .
Magix has posted many times , in this Steam forum , how to fix error code 59 ,
or maybe it was error code 2 .
the fix is to go into the Registry and delete a particular Vegas key .
i don't have that key path handy ,...but they have posted it more then once .
if i find it i will paste it here , or you might find it before i do .
please follow this steps to solve error code -59:
1.) Run regedit
2.) Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Wow6432Node > Sony Creative Software.
3.) Delete Vegas Pro entries
4.) Delete Vegas Pro from the folder C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam\SteamApps/common
5.) Download and install the software again.
With kind regards
The MAGIX team
the above is a copy\paste from a previous post , from Magix , on how to fix error code -59
that is all i know . i have never had to use it . most people never encounter that error .
Unfortunately nothing worked for me. Only a clean reinstall of the OS fixed it.
Serious problem began after I deleted the Vegas folders under the "programdata" folder. Even restoring from recycle bin didn't resolve my problem.
Earlier I had to delete some contents under programdata folder when one of my purchased VST plug-ins malfunctioned and the process fixed that. So that was a good suggestion.
BUT, in mycase, Vegas made things worse.
Unfortunately my System has no backed-up state. So after 2 days of reinstalling things are working again.
So note-to-self is as follows :
1. Always create a back up .
2. Sometimes reinstalling OS is the only efficacious solution for fixing a program like Vegas.
3. Be extra careful before installing a poorly coded bloatware that comes with some reputed camera brands. They might be the culprit to cause conflict.
Thanks all for helping.
Warm regards.
i have a disk image of the C drive .
i keep the C drive small , so the "disk image"
remains small ,
i install all apps on a different partition .
same physical drive , just a different drive letter .
if i need to re-image , i only re-image the C drive .
the C drive is only about 22 gig in size .
and the disk image is only about 16 gig in size( compressed ) .
just a hand full of DVD disks .
using windows Disk Image , built in utiltiy .
good to use DVD-RW or blu-ray RW ,
to round-robbin disk image sets , and to
re-use the media disks .
find the image maker here :
control Panel-->Systems and Security-->File History-->
now , in the Lower Left corner , click on "System Image Backup"
restore points don't fix everything .
but ,
re-images do fix everything( faster then a full install )
re-image as above , and No apps to re-install ,...fast
P.S.
the other drive letter of apps is backed up too , on a USB drive ,
just in case .
in the end , i have Everything backed up ,...but the disk image of C
is very small . Most of the time , the other drive letter is Never touched
during a re-image ( fast )
P.S.S
using the above disking , be sure to always save ALL projects and work
to any NON-C drive .
cause if in a hurry , and after a disk image of the C drive , any C drive
projects and work just got written over and are gone for good .
( i know , i have done that ,... I never save anytihng to the C drive )
when Ctrl-Shift is pressed , for a restore of Vega\Movie Studio
to default settings ,...
Vegas will Prompt with a message box , asking to confirm the reset .
when Ctrl-Shift is pressed too soon or too late ,...the message box
will NOT appear , and No changes have been made .
Must close Vegas and try the key press again .
I believe that the problem has to do with the file itself
For it to be able to import it you need the see a preview of it in the folder. if you only see the windows place holder one instead it wont work!
