Creative Labs SB 1095 5.1 X-Fi Pro comes with ASIO , and Vegas has never
like that ASIO , thus in Vegas menu : Options-->preferences-->Audio Tab
i always choose to use Direct Sound , Sound mapper , and i get 5.1 Dolby
from the Dolby Digital Live , all because of that sound card from Creative Labs
( 5.1 surround panning works too )
ASIO is a low level performance sound card driver .
Vegas has been known to crash while Vegas is Loading the ASIO at launch .
for me , i use Direct Sound driver as noted above , and sound works .
i never uninstall the ASIO .
i would only uninstall the ASIO if Vegas crashed during launch
while initializing\detecting the ASIO driver .
some specialty sound cards come with ASIO . i didn't think the SB 1095
was a specialty sound card , but , Creative Labs made an ASIO driver for it ,
in addition to the regular "Direct Sound" driver of windows
it is possible you have a True Specialty sound card that came with only ASIO .
if that be the case , them try on-board mother board audio , If available set
windows default in windows audio playback devices to motherboard audio
typically that would be Realtek . set to default communications device and
as the default audio device ,...along with Vegas setting of Direct Sound ,
Surround Mapper .
windows 10 ?
on the Task Bar , right click Speaker icon and choose "Open Sound Settings"
next , on the right side in Blue Text , click "Sound Control Panel"
you are now viewing a list of playback devices .
the list here has 9 audio Devices ! count 'em 9 !
Speakers High definition audio motherboard audio ( Realtek )
Headphones High definition motherboard ( Realtek )
Digital Audio SPDIF from Realtek motherboard audio ( Realtek )
Digital Audio SPDIF from Realtek motherboard audio ( Realtek )
HD PVR2 , which was the AMD HDMI audio , but Colossus 2 takes it's place
Digital Display Audio AMD , from the AMD video card
Speakers Logitech headphones
SPeaker Sound Blaster X-Fi 5.1 Pro
SPDIF-Out Sound Blaster X-Fi 5.1 Pro ( this is the one i am using )
this is set to Communications Device and is set to Default Device
only 1 Green check mark , and it is on SPDIF-Out Sound Blaster X-Fi 5.1 Pro
in Vegas settings , preferences does NOT reveal the sound card , Vegas uses the
windows Default , that is selected from the list above .
Vegas does allow selecting ASIO or Direct sound drivers .
i use "Direct Sound , Surround Mapper" , in Vegas settings .
extra note :
i use headphones , usually Turtle Beach DXL1 with
creative Labs 1095 x-Fi 5.1 Pro sound card .
On the SPDIF gong to Turtle Beach DSS2 Dolby Decoder box .
( Best 5.1 audio , better then Logitech G633 .
DSS2 hardware decoder box is really good ) .
in Vegas , using "Direct Sound , Surround Mapper" , in audio Tab , preferences .
P.S.
windows 10 messes up a lot . i had to reinstall again . cause w10
damage the data structure\file systems , just code . BIOS couldn't
find a bootable drive . w10 is a joke . it is possible audio drivers
are improperly installed or improperly being recognized , sad to say .
best Tip ror mow , avoid ASIO drivers with Vegas .
do so in Vegas settings , menu : Options-->Preferences-->Audio Tab
and choose "Direct Sound , Surround Mapper" .
choose to use "Direct Sound , Surround Mapper" "Apply" then "ok" .
The only other idea is to select a different sound card in Windows Audio Control Panel .
Vegas only uses the windows default sound card that is set in Windows' .
yes , i have done that myself , as each sound card has drivers from each
sound card maker , thus some Audio Drivers may be more reliable\compatible with Vegas .
Logitech g633 headphones have always worked reliable with Vegas 14 .
on-board 5.1 Realtek always worked reliable with Vegas 14 .
creative x-Fi card works when using Direct sound , Surround Mapper as noted above .
when you set the sound card in Windows audio control panel , use Both settings .
Set as Communications device and Set as Default device .
Nvidia is most likey audio on the HDMI .
Realtek could be SPDIF optical , or headphone jack , or up to 7.1 speakers .
RealTek is motherboard audio chip .
Nvidia audio is part of video card , just like AMD has HDMI audio on the video card .
i have used Realtek with 5.1 speakers on Vegas 14 , no issues here .
( 5.1 Typo , fixed )
you need to go into "Audio Control Panel"
audio Playback devices
to see which device is set as the default .
Vegas enumerates to use the system default device .
Device Manager shows what devices are in the machine .
right now , it is impossible to know which device is set as
the default . Device Manager does NOT reveal that information .
you can post images in Steam , in your Steam Profile , such as
Artwork . easy to "Show and Tell" , that way .
here , running AMD on widows 10 . runs solid , with or without GPU .
i would be surprised if your onboard Realtek has ASIO drivers .
thus i would guess your present Default is Nvidia sound card .
note:
Vegas enumerates to use the default sound card that is set
to Default , in windows audio playback list . Once you set
that to Realtek , vegas will No longer display ASIO iniside of Vegas
menu Options-->preferences-->Audio Tab . Now choose to use
"Direct Sound , surround Sound mapper" driver . That's the driver choice
in Vegas that i use . Vegas has those drivers to choose from . Vegas
Never lets you choose a sound card . Choose your sound card in windows
audio playback list . windows audio playback control panel .
i have been assuming you are applying audio FX
to the Track Controller or to the actual audio clip itself . that should be working .
The above is Magix tech support .
in Windows :
Control Panel-->Hardware and Sound-->Sound
you should now be viewing Playback devices .
i only have 1 Green Check Mark for the selected sound card
because "Set as default device" and "Set as Communication device"
ore Both "Set" for the sound card that i choose .
In Vegas , we can select only an API , such as ASIO or Direct Sound Surround Mapper ,
while the "Device Driver" comes from the Sound Card manufacture .
ASIO only appears in Vegas Audio Tab when a sound card comes with
ASIO drivers . As far as i know , on-board Realtek audio does NOT come with
ASIO drivers , thus when Realtek is the selected sound card , Vegas will NOT
show ASIO API . In that case , choose "Direct Sound Surround Mapper" .
Magix reads these forums . they can respond at any time .
