Preview on External Monitor not working anymore?

Hello all,

I have been running a multi monitor set up on my rig for a couple of years now, recently, with no noteworthy changes to my system, When ever I click on the option to preview my videos on an external monitor, it stays black, and causes lag on my system. As stated it has worked fine for years.

Any ideas? hard to do the kind of editing I need to do with a tiny little preview window.

Hello, I recently ran into the same issue except I just built a new rig with all new hardware.

I previously ran in my old system an acer 27 (dp connection) and a 40 inch tv (hdmi connection).

My new system I added another acer 27 (dp connection), and I was getting a black screen on my secondary monitor and Vegas would freeze/crash within seconds of turning on the external preview.

In the end my work around was to revert my secondary monitor to an hdmi connection instead of being dp.


So, TLDR;

main display : dp
secondary : hdmi

Try that, hope maybe it helps. I know it drove me nuts for about an hour trying to figure out why it worked on a ghetto setup but not on a 5k setup!
