I find it strange program not detecting AAC too but I know it's compatible.
Try using Avidemux for this since it supports muxing video and audio without encoding so it should be quick without any quality lost.
I personelly use FFMpeg but that is command line type with Avidemux you won't have to deal with that.
I would prefer to not use another program if there is a fix for this as i have other programs but i was told aac files would be able to be imported however that dosent seem to be the case.
I would also like to note that when i attempt to import AAC files on my win10 machine it says something about apples quickplay however even after downloading it the problem persist.
in general it is not a problem to import video material with AAC audio stream, most of the mp4 Videos out there have AAC in them.
In order to be able to help you out I'm gonna need some background.
Which camera did you used to capture the video?Knowing brand an model number/name would help me out a lot.
It would be even better if you could email us a small video file for testing purposes,
You can write us at contactus@magix.net.
We look forward to your reply.

Almost all of my videos are recorded through the Open Brodcast softwhare however my audio is recorded through adacity that allows me to export it as a .wav that has no proble with vegas as well as .aac that has a problem with sony vegas. My Windows is windows 10 but theres no camera as it was all recorded on the computer as most of them are for my own channel and some of them are work releated.
As i said my Videos load fine an are recorded through the OBS studio program
My Audio is recorded through the Audacity program in an aac format
When i attempt to import an AAC file into vegas i get a error about Quicktime however my OS is windows 10 and to my knowlodge quicktime was no longer supported by apple for windows OS since windows 7.
I have done a file check through steam and still have the issue
I resolved this by installing quicktime in Windows 10.
Oh yeah ask people to contact you via mail so other people can't read the solution, DUDE i have Vegas pro 16 and you still haven't fixed the problem. AAC is one of the best choices for audio compression even better than mp3 and yet you do nothing about it.
I have regret buying Vegas from your company!
FLAC is an excellent audio choice for vegas
As mentioned above ,
AAC with AVC .mp4 videos always work here ,
using "AMD Relive" video recordings .
I never got a response from the company that works either so i just gave up and started blending the two from the recording software but it's not ideal
file Type ( if that is what it really is named )
.AAC
isn't a supported audio file Type in Vegas .
but yet ,
.mp4 video with aac audio imports just fine into vegas .
AMD ReLive
records as AVC .mp4 with aac audio
and it imports just fine into vegas 14
vegas has No .AAC audio render option in any
of the audio render Templates.
Stand-a-lone
AAC audio files are NOT supported in vegas .
NON supported file type .
