# Patch Notes

## Version 1.1.7.1

### Characters

- New Class Look: a character can now wear the appearance of any job they have mastered while they keep leveling their current job. For example, a Squire who mastered Hunter can look like a Hunter and still fight as a Squire with Squire skills and weapons. Choose it from the new dropdown under the portrait in the Equipment window, or from the Class Look option in the Change Job window when you change or master a job. When you master a job there, you can switch to its look right away, and the Master Job confirmation shows the look you picked. "Match Job" follows whatever job the character has. A chosen look stays through later job changes, and outfits apply to the worn look. The option appears once a character has mastered a job.

### Interface

- Redesigned the Crafting, Vendor and Save and Quit prompt, Job change UI
- Tutorials now show which page you are on, such as "2 / 3", and the last page's Next button becomes Close. Before, the last page had no button to close it, and single-page tutorials had no buttons at all. Back now stays in place, grayed out on the first page, and the Left and Right arrow keys turn pages.
- Item pop-ups that compare equipment now open next to the item you click or hover. Before, clicking gear in the Inventory, or clicking a slot in the Equipment window, could open the pop-up across the screen, up to about 1,000 pixels from the cursor. Its invisible frame stayed as wide as every item it had loaded, including the hidden ones for other slots and recommendations. Trinket and weapon comparisons with several equipped items were affected most.

### Balance

- Dragon Combo now reaches its opening attacks sooner and gives its finisher the correct extra impact delay, with the Dragon Kick animation wired to the effect's projectile timing.
- Character EXP requirements after level 40 now grow by 10% per level, down from 36%. Leveling from 50 to 51 now takes about 5.3 billion EXP instead of 44.4 billion, and levels 40 and below are unchanged.
- Class trinkets now grow stronger with their Roman-numeral tier, which comes from the level of the boss that dropped them. A higher-tier copy is now a real upgrade instead of only a slightly larger elemental bonus. Each tooltip lists the tier-I value and what every tier adds.
- Added Dragonscale Wraps, a new Fighter class trinket that can drop from bosses level 15 and up. Each critical Dragon Combo hit performs 1 extra auto attack, up to 3 per combo, plus 1 more every 10 tiers after I. The extra attacks can crit and chain.
- Raised several class trinket base values: Warhorn of Challenge (10% for 15 seconds, up from 5% for 10), Overpower Gauntlet (15%, up from 10%), Giant's Eye Lens (40%, up from 25%), Frostbound Circlet (100%, up from 25%), Dragon Clasp (25% per preceding hit, up from 15%), Meditation Stone (25%, up from 15%), Mercy Censer (20%, up from 10%), and Agony Scripture (15%, up from 10%).
- New trinket bonuses: blocking with Reprisal Tally also heals 2% of Max Health, Fighting Spirit Sash adds 25% damage to the ability it empowers, Cutpurse's Coin makes Mug deal 50% more damage and the ability after a successful Mug deal 100% more (plus 5 percentage points per tier), Giant's Eye Lens makes Giant Slayer hits Bleed for their full damage over 10 seconds, and Storm Prism gives non-critical Shocks a 10% chance to shorten Chain Lightning's cooldown.
- Warhorn of Challenge's damage reduction no longer fades at high Vitality. Before, its 5% barely registered once Vitality was high: at 400 Vitality it cut only about 1% of damage.
- Martyr's Votive now restores 1% of the Initiate's Max Mana per hit, rounded up, instead of a flat 1 Mana.
- Prayer Beads now grants Shields by how much of an ally's Max Health was overhealed: 1 Shield per 10%, up to 3 at tier I. Before, it counted raw overhealing, so almost any Prayer filled every ally to the 10-Shield cap.
- Hidden Needle now makes every attack deal 20% more damage while hidden (plus 1 percentage point per tier), instead of boosting only the first attack after Hide, and attacking no longer ends Hide early. The tradeoff: when Hide ends, you are Exposed and take 25% more damage for 10 seconds.
- Fixed Agony Scripture's damage bonus applying to Agony, which deals no damage, instead of Light Blast.
- Fixed Focus Stone doing nothing when Shift Focus was used at full Fighting Spirit. Its bonus stack can now go past the normal maximum. It also adds 1 more bonus stack for every 5 tiers after I.
- Serpent's Signet's Bleed bonus no longer compounds with every Backstab. Repeated Backstabs refresh it instead.
- Double Attack now works with the Fighter's auto-attack-based abilities (Chop, Heavy Cross, and Uppercut). A Fighter with Double Attack in a cross-job slot can repeat the ability's damage hit, and the repeat also builds Fighting Spirit. Before, a proc only added a plain weapon hit. Uppercut's Stun is not rolled again. The repeat is shown in those abilities' descriptions and Alt-click formulas.
- Alt-click formulas now show the bonus from Agony Scripture, Dragon Clasp, Barbed Quiver, Frostbound Circlet, Fighting Spirit Sash, Cutpurse's Coin, and Hidden Needle.
- The Hunter's Initiative talent now also makes the first damaging ability in each combat deal 10% more damage per rank (20% at rank 2). Auto-attacks and passive procs don't use it up, and damaging abilities show the bonus in their Alt-click formulas.
- Fixed Initiative's first-action delay reduction doing nothing. Each rank now removes 1 second from a character's first action at the start of combat.

### Performance

- Selecting a recipe in the Crafting window no longer stutters when many recipes are unlocked. With every recipe unlocked, a click dropped from about 54 ms to under 3 ms, and the window builds about twice as fast.
- Choosing a different job in the Change Job window no longer redraws the floor across the whole window, which took about 15 ms each time the window changed height. The floor now covers only the job picker, and the window opens about 15% faster.
- Opening the Skills or Crafting window no longer stutters. Every open rebuilt that window's tutorial pop-up in the background, even after you had read it, which froze the game for about 120–150 ms. Both windows now open in under 10 ms.
- Clicking a character is smoother. The Tactics and Equipment windows rebuilt themselves on every click even while closed, which added about 25 ms to each click in a 36-character guild. They now update when you open them. With the Equipment window open, switching characters also stopped rebuilding the Auto Equip priority list while that pop-up is closed, so a switch dropped from about 25–70 ms to about 6–20 ms.

### Stability

- Fixed offline simulation wiping out high-level groups that never die in normal play. After the first offline wave, enemies could hit up to about 200 times harder than they do in live play and had slightly more Health, so groups around level 100 were defeated every minute or two while offline. The effect grew with enemy level, so low-level groups were barely affected. Offline enemies now match their live stats exactly.
- Fixed two memory leaks that made the game use more memory the longer it ran. Every defeated enemy that had cast a spell left its spell data behind, and the game kept hit statistics for every enemy it had ever fought. Both are now released, so memory no longer climbs with each wave during long sessions.
- Fixed a blank background after offline simulation. The terrain stayed where the party had been before the simulation, so it was missing while the party fought, and once the party started walking the game could freeze for several seconds while the terrain caught up. The background now appears around the party as soon as the game resumes.
