I'm so sorry that this happened! I have not seen this happen before, but I will do my best to assist you in getting it back. If you check the game's folder, do you see a file called save_1.ini? If so, could you open it and show me what is inside?
Also, it's funny that you mention going down the rabbit hole...I'm currently working on a remastered version of Lifestream, which has additional story content, and there are some new ties to Alice in Wonderland. :-)
