v1.1.0 - The Detective's Insight | 11 New Anomalies + Overhauled Atmosphere

11 new anomalies, a completely overhauled realistic atmosphere, a new failure feedback system, and major performance optimizations. The v1.1.0 update is here!

Hi everyone,

I am the solo developer behind The Anomaly Detective, and I want to start by thanking all of you for your incredible feedback and support. I've been working hard over the last few weeks to make the game smoother, fairer, and much more immersive.

Today, I am very excited to release the v1.1.0 "The Detective's Insight" update. Here is a look at everything that has changed and improved.

A Darker, More Realistic Atmosphere I have completely reworked the environmental lighting and overall aesthetics. The corridor now feels much more grounded and tense. Additionally, I polished the camera movements and sanity visual effects to make everything feel much more natural.

New Content & Gameplay Tweaks

11 New Anomalies: I have expanded the anomaly pool with 11 brand-new encounters. You will face new visual glitches, physical illusions, and entities that will actively track you. You have to be much more careful now.
Failure Feedback System: I heard your frustrations about not knowing why you failed a run. I have added a text-based feedback system on the game-over screen. Now, the game will explicitly tell you if you made a False Alarm, Missed an Anomaly, violated the Day 1 rule, or got killed.
Free-Roaming Radio: You are no longer forced to sit in the chair while listening to the radio. You can stand up and explore the corridor. I also added a dialogue log so you can review past clues at any time.
Refreshed Main Menu: The main menu interface has been updated for better navigation.

Performance: Smaller Size, Smoother Gameplay While adding new content, I also spent a lot of time optimizing the game.

Micro-Stutters Fixed: I implemented a shader pre-warming system. This completely eliminates the FPS drops and micro-stutters you might have experienced while walking down the corridor or triggering a new anomaly.
Ultrawide Support: Fixed the UI scaling for 21:9 and 32:9 monitors. Buttons and texts will no longer clip off your screen. The resolution saving bug has also been fixed.

Bug Fixes & Localization

Asian and Russian Font Fix: I resolved the issue where text would appear as empty square boxes in Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Russian.
Fixed various animation loops and spawn/despawn bugs regarding the anomalies.
Cleaned up minor progression blockers to make the mechanics more accessible.

A Quick Favor to Ask As a solo developer, visibility is the biggest challenge I face. Right now, my main goal is to reach our first milestone of 10 reviews on Steam. This small milestone actually makes a huge difference for the game's algorithm.

Initial thoughts

I quite liked this and will be wishlisting it. The closing eye mechanic is different, which I like. If I would give a suggestion is that you're locked into some heavy dialogue sections that run longer than it takes to explore a floor. Maybe tighten up on that....

v1.0.3 Update

🔎 v1.0.3 Update: New Inspection Mode & Massive UX Fixes!
Hey everyone!

I've been working hard to polish the game based on your feedback. My goal for this update was to make the gameplay feel much smoother, more immersive, and more "premium."

Here is everything new in version 1.0.3:

Brand New Clue Inspection: You can now right-click any photo or clue on the detective board to zoom into it. The background will blur, a clean description text will appear on the left, and you can replay its voice line whenever you want.

Interact While Holding the Camera: You no longer need to put your camera away to interact with the world. You can now open doors, call the elevator, or check desk files while looking through your camera lens.

Smart Crosshair: To keep your screen clean, the crosshair will now hide itself when you hold up the camera. However, it will instantly pop up the moment you point at a door or a button so you know exactly where you are clicking.

Pause-Friendly Dialogues: If you press ESC to pause the game during a radio broadcast or a character monologue, everything will now freeze perfectly mid-sentence (including the text timers). Once you unpause, the conversation will continue exactly where it left off.

Fixed Custom Board Notes (Post-its): I completely rebuilt the saving system for the notes you write yourself. They will now perfectly remember their text and exact positions when you close and reload the game.
