Why get more than 3 letters of recommendation

Hey everyone,

I was wondering what the benefits of getting all letters of recommendation are. When I look up info about the game, I sometimes come across threads where people mention things about getting all letters. Since you only need three to get access to the exam, it reminds me of those annoying moms who always told me to aim for the highest mark on my math test even though I was plenty happy with my 60/100.*

By the way, I don't know if it has any bearing on this issue, but I'm trying to get that trophy on my first playthrough, so please keep that in mind when answering.

*Just kidding I never got any passing marks on math tests.

Its mostly for the extra cutscenes and events really. They also serve as introductions i guess to the alchemists in each location. Dunno how they will handle the 1st time meeting the alchemists after the exam tho since i did them all on the 1st run.

Btw don't worry about the time limit thing you'll still have more than 50 days even if you take you're time getting all the reccomendation letters and leveling and crafting equipments. You're gonna need those items and levels anyway if you wanna have any hope of getting what i think you're trying to get.

Oh, so if I get what you're saying, doing the quests for the other letters of recommendation simply is a good way of levelling up your characters and your alchemy. That's a good reason to do them. Thanks for the answer!

There are also some recipes that are only used in recommendation quests, so if you don't get those you can't fill the encyclopedia. You only need something like 70%-80% completion to get the related achievement, but a completionist might not like being stuck at 95% recipe completion from missing unique recipes.

Aside from Ren (who you meet in the main story anyway), you also get alternate cutscenes after the exam for each alchemist you visit or don't visit, like Eleventh Doctor said.
