Sidequests
Just about to go outside i think and start the 1 year time limit. SO should i do sidequests as they come to me while also completing the story quest or should i just focus on completing story till i get the licence since i get that its just the 1st part of the story and all. THEN do all sidequests later. Just wondering how stringent the time limit in this game is and if i can do both at once

your choice. If you can optimise your work that do all or at least some of them. If you are quite bad at those type of games than ignore them
Played any persona games? You could do asocial links as you saw fit and still do fine but if you wanted to get them all as fst as posiable you had too follow very strict sheldue.

When you look at the Quest Book, quests which don't have "Main" or "Sub" written on the icon can be ignored without problems. I only do them if I conveniently have spares for the required items.

As for the time limit, I collected all recommendation letters (You only need 3, there are in total 5 of them.) and arrived at the exam venue with more than 150 days left to spare, I did some prep work for the exam and passed it within 10 days. Though I do think I'm an experienced player, so your mileage may vary.

In the process I did explore a few optional areas and a few side quests, though I also did skip some areas on the map. Once you did pass the exam you will have all the time you need to explore as much as you like, some areas are only unlocked after passing the exam anyway.

at least in persona 4 the game lets us start one week earlier from game over point. but this game we are forced to play from the beginning if we get game over, that's stupid ♥♥♥♥ af

360 days to collect 3 of 5 letters minimium plus all side quests can be done after the exam. If you really can't get 3 letters and pass the exam in this "time limit" you might as well uninstall lol jesus.

Yeah i'm not really worried about getting the 3 letters heck i think i can get all 5 just checking if theres time to do some sidequests is all and wther i need to rush it a bit if i decide to do them before getting the license :P. Thanks guys guess i'll be saving some side quests till after the license then XD. And yeah i played persona games before so just trying to plan abit.

From what i've seen time limits in this types of games are usually pretty generous as long as you know what you're doing plus you know there are these "things" called saves if you ever messes up make use of em >.<

You can wait on side quests, they won't go away after you get your liscense, so you can ignore them and focus on getting 5/5 reccomendation letters, then after thats done, then worry about side stuff.

I'm guessing other 3 letters are near Reisenberg? Some other board said SW of Mechen, and unless I'm somehow missing it, there are no inhabited villages in those areas, and the one last area to explore (at most Southwestern edge of map) I can't even reach. I'm wanting to get all 5, but have about 240 days to get the last 3. I'm guessing each of those will take maybe 30-40 days? Just tired of searching around and finding dead ends lol

I'm currently just running around trying to check where the alchemists are 1st then once i've confirmed their positions i'll just load the my save before i went exploring and start planning where to go so that i'll use the least days to finish up . Its a good way if you're not sure where you want to go without using up the time limit :) . Though yeah it will take some time since the areas are huge XD

2 are before Flussheim, 1 is directly at Flussheim, 2 after Flusshiem.

Description of where the last 2 can be found:
1 is at the snowy areas in the north east corner of the world map.
The other is at the desert area in the south east of the world map, north west of Reisenberg.

Sorry I don't have exact names as I don't know what the names are in the English version.

The desert town is called Wiesslark

What I don't get is, where is the licensed alchemist? For some strange reason I'm just not finding this person.
Edit: its possible this is the wrong town... it is on some dry cliffs rather than a desert .

Unfortunately that is not the town I'm referring to, Wiesslark is near the snow areas though.

The desert town area is in the southeast corner of the grass plains after you crossed the tornado lake. You have to cross a broken bridge to get there.
