Its a new game that came out at the same time with ps4 and vita version. Sophie for pc came much after it was out for ps4 hence the lower price.

I think the 3D model look worse too.. I don't remember Sophie's back being this ugly. https://puu.sh/uyNFV/8e555a4bc4.jpg

I don't really see a multisampling option like in Sophie's launcher either...

What your linking isn't sophie it's the main character of this series.

Sophie looks different because she is different, she's aged between the last series and this series. I think the 3d model is suppose to show the difference in age.

Though it is true I don't see the multisampling option.

The character outlines are large pixels. Zoom in they are okay, Zoom out it's really ugly.

The MSAA option is availble in the config file under My Documents/KoeiTecmo/A18/.
I didn't notice it doing anything for the chracter outline. SMAA with Reshade helped remove jagged edges on normal objects, however didn't help the character outlines.

Has MSAA ever done anything in KT's PS4 ports? I didn't notice any effect in Nights of Azure, it might be a good thing the option was removed...

I know, I was comparing her jagger outline to sophie's in A17. It's true that zooming in makes it better.

Ya, I didn't notice it doing anything with Azure. It did work for Sophie.

Reshade works well Firis. MXAO looks decent as well.

At least with Azure you could downsample it to oblivion and back, but the performance for this game isn't the same as sophie. At 4K I was getting 144fps. On this game that uses the same engine and has no graphical enhancements, I'm getting 80-90 fps at 4K. It dips into the 50s with ReShade options.

I wonder what went wrong. Did their best coder leave all of a sudden?

This is a day 1 pc release

And with Koei Tecmo it will forever stay in it's day one state. They won't release a patch, but they sure as hell will release a bunch of DLC.

They did release an update for Sophie with another one on the way to fix problems.

The only reason it was implemented was because it had the potential to actually damage hardware due to CPU overutilization for no reason at all. There really isn't any reason for them to rush a patch with this game. I wouldn't be holding my breath on their next "update" for Sophie.

Out of EVERY single game they've released on STEAM the only 2 they've patched are...
DOA5
Sophie

Everything else is just over priced DLC. KT is an assembly line publisher with assembly line developers. They try to work on low margins and cut expenses where ever they can.

I enjoy their games, but I'm not gonna lie to myself after owning most of their catalog and knowing how often they revisit their games to fix them.

Yes, that's how KT works. I doubt there will ever be a patch in improve performance or give 2D assets equivalent to PS4. At least this game it doesn't have a performance issue during synthesis, you just have to make sure your GPU is not in idling power saving state.

This game pretty much needs a near PS4 equivalent GPU or better to run well at 1080p.

I'm fine myself now play at 1440p100 fps with Reshade, however not everyone runs a 1200USD GPU like us, with value dropping to 700 USD on the 10th :p

You're right. I shouldn't be upset about this ordeal, but it just seems weird the Sophie had an AA solution and better optimization than this game.

As for the 700USD... if you bought it at the same time I did at least we got to enjoy the performance of it since September. And if you're like me I'm sure you'll be picking up an upgrade during the Volta release or Volta refresh.
Kite Mar 7, 2017 @ 9:29pm
Yep, still worth it for me since I was dying to use my 4k TV more. Yes, Volta, Titans forever!
