While you can't tell in the shop list itself, if you click on an item to bring up the "how many do you want to buy" thing, it shows you how many you have in your inventory. You can then cancel out without buying any. It's not ideal, but it's better than needing to exit the shop and manually check your items.
Example:
Buy how many?
(Have: 32x)
I could have sworn there was an "In Bag" value at the shop list, but I'm probably thinking of earlier Atelier games.
The more straightforward way:

Without that your can do it aswell... Though I'm not sure if this works when you didn't beat a monster from that field before.
So in your Encyclopedia you can see all the fields you have unlocked. When you select one you should be able to see the creatures that appear in said field.
If you now press the dot on your numpad a list should appear and you can select one monster. When you do that you see the base level of that monster - and that gives you a general idea of the field's level. I hope this is understandable.
