Question about gold puni & money.

I got two requests to kill gold punis, supposedly found at Fungal Garden. Do they only show up in this area if you sacrifice a live chicken to the RNG gods, or something? I wandered around killing monsters and gathering for a couple of in-game days, and got my gathering level up to 3, but they never showed up for me. Did I have to get my gathering level to 5 before they show up? Or am I doing something else wrong? I was really looking forward to a chance to kill them for some money, I'm getting really low on cash.

On a related matter, why am I not getting any money after battle from killing monsters? I've got the difficulty set to despair, but my post battle winnings is always 0. Is there a trait I might have on a piece of equipment that causes me to get 0 money after battle? Or is my game glitching? I'd like to figure out what I'm doing wrong before I waste more time trying for the gold punis.

Yeah the ones at fungal garden are hard to find . You will have much better luck finding Gold Punis at the Undergraound Lake. At least 1 Gold Puni is guaranteed to spawn in the 3rd map of the area (Usually i got 2 to spawn pretty regularly) if you play at hard difficulty i imagine,

Also Money does not really drop from monsters in this game except for killing Golden Punis (1 gold puni is at least 900 gald on Despair ,half that on hard) and Rainbow punis you wont get much money from anything else since quests are the only way to get money . You can also sell cheap items made with the Golden Radiance trait to get more money.

Thanks for the help! I was worried I was doing something wrong when I wasn't getting any money after battles. So, do the gold punis randomly show up in the red puni group during a battle, or can they show up in battles with any enemy group? Or does it have to be raining, or at night, or maybe a specific gathering level? Just trying to narrow down if they have a specific spawn condition. I haven't unlocked Underground Lake yet. I'm really, really, really hoping I can find some, I'm down to 173 cole, lol. Making gear is expensive...

Yeah early game is really hard on cash since only really Really high level monster drop them and that is only 100-300 gald per battle lol. And no gold Punis will appear as Gold punis on the map they rarely appear in other puni groups afaik. If i remember correctly they spawn during the day at fungal garden same time as the red punis though i never noticed what gather level i was when i fought them ....

The easiest place to farm Gold Punis is at the "Waterside Ruins".
You have two 100% guranteed Gold Puni spawns right at the beginning of the map.
Both consisting of 4-5 Puni each. On DESPAIR killing one group nets you about 5000 gold.
Then go to the other. Most of the time the first group respawned by then. Just alternate between them.
I made the "100k gold" achievement in 20 minutes at that spot.

Thank you both for the help! I finally gave up on finding them. I accidentally ran into that strong cat-monster while running around, and got the Victor's Charm recipe after one of them used some attack on me that took Sophie down to 1 HP, so it wasn't a complete waste of time, lol.

I ended up going to the Forgotten Nursury and filling my pockets with Rainbow Crystals and then selling them. They sell for about 30 cole each, so filling my backpack nets me a few thousand cole per trip. Not going to get rich off it, but it's good for spending money, especially since it's accessable fairly early in the game. Thanks again!
