Not just probably. Was already announced last year that we will get it on Steam simultaneously with the PS4 release in March.
The main problem is that sprite based PS2 games are much harder to port in a good quality like these newer full 3D ones. The Atelier Iris games have really low resolution sprites and backgrounds. You cant just blow those up to modern resolutions without everything looking REALLY bad. And i dont think those games can justify an expensive remaster and doing all the art assets over. Also those games were still in 4:3 resolution.
No, i think we will get the newer ones in the future and maybe some further ports of the older games down to like Atelier Rorona when the series turned full 3D.
Just my opinion though.
Everything from the PS3 era on would be fine. I would really LOVE to see Atelier Rorona Plus on Steam. Even if it would be the third time i buy that game.
Still my favorite Atelier game.
I also remember the music being pretty good.
I'd only bother with those myself if they removed the time limit, I hate not being able to freely experement due to it. But yeah, I doubt we'll see 2d ports of the old ones, they could go 3d though, with todays tech it could look pretty nice. The problem is if they'd be able to turn a profit on them. Graphics tend to be the most expensive part of a game.
Will not happen since the time limits are a big part of the plot.
And to be fair, none of the time limits is that restricting. Rorona has the strictest and i had no problem getting everything done and even beat most of the optional bosses.
Also those games are made for New Game+ runs with everything unlocked.
The time limit in Totori was already more cosmetic then serious and i pretty much sleeped nonstop for the last ingame year because i had nothing more to do before the end.
In Meruru the time limit could just not be there at all with how long it is.
In general i am no big fan of time limits at all but they never bothered me in the Atelier games.
I actually think they give the games some needed structure and purpose.
But again ,just a personal preference.
Be hyped , be verry hyped . :P
Looks like it also uses a completely diferent engine frome Sophie.
I mean sure Mana Khemia 1 had a shoddy story but it improved the system from Iris 3, Iris 1-2 are sill well regarded good games, 3 was also kind of eh...
RIP ORIGA :X wait this one is only applicavle to Ar noSurge oppsie
I liked at least the main char of AI 3. The story writer caught the essence of the way women think in this one. :D
