Weapons are dermind by stat, main stat of both classes is intelligence which is the stat of most staffs, wands and books.
Minstrel is a bard, just like the busker. Their main stat is talent which is the stat fr most instruments. THer are two types of damage in the game: magical and physical. all weapon type have weapons with either or both types of damage, but typically most staffs, wand, books and instruments have magical damage and most swords, axes etc have physical damage.
Class has nothing to do with damage type, it depends on the weapons you use.
Sorry for typos, cat in front of keyborad doesn't help.
BTW, don'z bother about if you can chnage your chosesn class (you cannot) you won't play this char long enough for it to matter. Just choose a differetn class next time.
Amount of damage depends on the weapon, there are high damage weaons for all types of weapon, just wait till you loot or can buy better weapons for your minstrel. Untill then, use good weapons with your seondary stat(s) Instruments are often good for crowd control.
