Question about Tinder Pouches
When can you use them? I thought they could be used anywhere on the map. But I've wasted a few where I click 'use' and it's gone and nothing happens. I've googled this and come up with nothing.

On an open square, they set up a campsite where characters can rest. In between dungeon levels, there is also an option to use one to heal all characters.

If you click on one and they vanish you should have the camp. If you're on a hex that's not empty, they shouldn't work at all, that is: not vanish, either.

Yes it's very odd. Today I did a quick experiment and it worked as you all described. I'm new to the game so maybe I've been doing something wrong that I just haven't realized. Anyway there are things about the interface that don't seem optimized. If you pitch a camp where all 3 are located in the same hex only the one with the tent gets affected. The other 2 need to leave and then re-enter. Perhaps because you can choose between focus and health. Why not just allow it all. Also in the category of the unexplained, if chaos is 0 and you disarm a chaos generator, you really don't affect chaos....since it appears chaos cannot go into negative numbers. I enjoy this game there's just some things not explained clearly and interface issues that could be improved. The margin of error is not a whole heck of alot. There are no save slots so if you do something wrong it's already too late. Spinach!

You can affect chaos when your chaos is zero. Like you said, you can't go into the negative, but instead it removes the next upcoming +1 chaos event from the timeline. So it's definitely still worth doing

I could have sworn that is not the case since I think I just did that a couple of hours ago and the chaos indicator didn't move from the timeline. But what you are suggesting makes sense. There are a few things than need better explanation IMO. I ran into Fergus the Mad the first time yesterday. How he latched onto me I don't know. And he was certainly a PITA. Because there are no saves you can't retrace your steps.

About the camp: Each character has to camp when it's their turn (or not, your choice). Throughout the game every action is turnbased per character.

So if you pitch the tent with all 3 chars on that hex you still have to click on the hex and choose resting or meditating for each character when it's their turn.
They can be somewhere else when you set up camp, too. As long as they reach the camp before it's gone they can use it. Characters can also use it more than once.
For example: Rest, fight a mob or three, rest again.

About not going back: You can exit the game during a fight. You cannot save then, but you can leave without saving, so you'll continue before the fight next time.
