It‘s definitely a unique game, but there‘s plenty of people who very much enjoy it.
Rather than tell the develepors they shouldn‘t make more games, which isn‘t very nice for new game makers, you could help them improve in what you think could be done better.
If not, and of course a game certainly doesn‘t have to appeal to 100% of the people, you could just not play any games of them and avoid them.
Thats my only issues with the game so far.
Sorry, but it‘s more about probability/odds rather than „luck“... I will not comment further on this because it‘s been discussed and argued over enough.
Since the game is BASED on a tabletop-ish style, a random number generator is a natural tool for its functuality.
Like I said, if you don’t like games using probabilities as a vital part of their mechanics, this will not be your game.
Regarding sandbox... it‘s marketed as a rogue-lite/like I think... i.e. a hard game.
Too many game devs thinking they want to be the next dark souls or xcom or darkest dungeon. They don't realize if you're going to make a challenging game you still have to have a GOOD, WELL-DESIGNED core that supports the difficulty. If you are inept at game design, like this team is, it just doesn't work out well.
I wish people who went into game creation actually knew how to make good video games. We get like 20 new games every day but they're almost all garbage that isn't even worth the time it would take to play them.
That's what focus is for. You use it when you absolutely, positively, need to get that perfect roll.
You claim in your profile you're 22 years old. I have literally been gaming for longer than you have been alive. Please show some respect to your elders before I have to teach you some respect.
And FYI I beat the campaign on the normal default difficulty buddy. It was a frustrating and stupid experience, but I did it anyways. This game being a horribly designed game is not because I'm bad at it - it's because it's horribly designed.
I literally can't understand the OP's idea that the game design is bad. It's very well thought out from what we've encountered so far, it's difficult but not overly so (on apprentice), but we've nearly died by hitting a dungeon slightly unprepared. It's loads of fun, the RPG elements keep you constantly working on small goals as you gain srength, the weapons all have different abilities and you have to weigh up what's best for your party's needs, and sometimes for the needs of a single battle. Amulets can be swapped in/out for min/maxing benefits.
What could anyone possibly not like? The probabilities in battle - yeah i've had several 93% hits fail a perfect roll, it's frustration, but that's probability. If you've ever played a Firaxis game like Civ or X-Com you'll be used to this scenario. It's not bad game design that it exists, it's bad risk management if you keep failing or make the wrong decisions.
I think the devs should forge ahead and make more games of this kind, they're very talented and have a unique vision. I just think this game clearly isn't for you.
You throw out immature, unnecessary ad hominem insults against me and you have the nerve to call me immature and a troll? Think about what that says about you. Seriously, think about it. No, really, even if thinking is hard for you, please take a few minutes and think about what that says about your character and the flaws therof. Me having a subjective opinion that conflicts with your own does not make me beneath you or a troll.
Instead of trying to derail this thread with your petty insults, please instead stay on topic and offer constructive arguments and thoughts.
It‘s totally fine having different opinions. And even if you don’t find the opposing arguments fitting or sufficient or whatever, let‘s just agree to disagree.
Yes, there are people who do not like this game, or games alike, whilst there are plenty of happy FTK players. This could also be shown by reading positive reviews (@TripSin ;-) ).
So, let‘s not get butthurt, ok?
Might aswell close this thread then.
